I sit on the bus alone.

Nobody speaks to me, nobody looks at me. They keep to themselves as we make our way into the town thirty minutes away from the school. I won't lie that it's irritating, I hadn't thought of everyone being too afraid to speak to me since my identity came out. I'm dressed in a short, black branded dress with a pair of heels, flawless makeup and a price bag. Today we are supposed to be exposed to the humans, observing how they act and how to make them sin. Hence why I chose designer.

"Students," Mrs Bronson begins with a smile, her navy suit looking lovely with a pair of white heels. "As we approach the town, please take out your disguise potions and drink." She demonstrates, shakily stood on the aisle with the red liquid in hand. She doesn't require it, she could simply shape shift, however as she always likes to she physically demonstrates how to drink a fucking drink.

I do just that, swigging it back, tingling the back of my throat. With this comes the blurry eyes and sudden loss of my wings, my back hitting the plush leather seating. I can't help but feel panicked and worried, my eyes widening as I stare at Mrs Bronson. Without my wings here I feel unprotected, especially since father forgot to summon Samson by my side today.

Charlie slides in next to me and licks his bottom lip, "I hate it."

"I know," I whisper, looking at him with a frown. "It's like I just lost a part of me."

He nods and pulls out a hoodie to hide his fitted shirt and slips it on, "How you holding up? Haven't been by our dinner table to catch up... so I was concerned."

I soften at his concern, pushing back the feeling of slapping him down. He's being kind, it doesn't hurt to reciprocate every once in a while; I will be his Empress one day. "Busy," I admit. "Everything's changed and with that, everyone has too. People are either too afraid to speak to me, or they're pissed since I didn't tell them my news sooner."

Charlie flushes, pulling a sheepish expression as he scratches the back of his head, "Yeah, I'm really sorry about that. I'm sure you had enough on your plate and didn't need me blowing up. Plus you were right concerning The Challenges, I'd have been almost useless."

I smile a little bit, "That means a lot."

He grins mischievously, "Besties?"

Snorting, I whack his shoulder and look away, "Fuck off Mauve."

He only laughs and nods, "You know... Felix is pretty guilty."

"So he's told you then. Guessing the rest of us royalty know as well."

"Everyone's known for ages," Charlie admits. "We were just waiting to see what happened. Wasn't our place. Plus Brent was trying to play wing man, only failed. Majorly."

"It's just so aggravating. It feels wrong, with his feelings and everything. Then he outright calls me a slut. Now that pisses me off, I was so tempted to embed a dagger between his eyes."

Charlie swallows and looks at me in fake terror, "Remind me to never piss you off. So, how you finding Angel school?"

"Divine Academy is different. Judgmental angels, don't get me wrong. However some are, uh, nice."

"Nice?" Charlie repeats.

"Yeah," I clear my throat. "Nice."

Mauve stares at me intently, face focused and somewhat concerning. It's as if I can see the cogs turning in his head, the clanks and whirring audible due to his hollow skull. A light bulb sparks within his mind and he instantly breaks out into a smile, "Crush?"

"No," I deny. "Heavens no."

"Ooh," he coos, nudging me again and wiggling his brows. "Tell me about this guy or gal. Everything. It must be a heck of a student in order to make our little Green Queen stutter."
