The story is a bit sad! Since this book is mostly fluff and cute stuff, I assume you prefer that.

Waking up to the beautiful annoying sound of his alarm is not what Minho expected his Saturday morning to begin with.

Another weekend day he forgot to turn off his alarm,
how much he hated that.

It happened way too much for his liking.

After he turned off the source of noise, his gaze wandered to the picture frame beside the alarm.

A picture of Jisung and their daughter about 30 minutes after her birth.

Jisung layed there in the hospital bed, clearly exhausted but still smiling with the most loving gaze to the little bundle in his arms.

Minho adored this photo so much.

It was the last picture he ever took of his husband.

It was the only picture with both his favorite people.

♡︎

They never intended to have a child of their own because Jisung had a very weak immune system.

The doctors had told them multiple times that it would be very risky for both him and the baby and the possibility of a miscarriage was quite high.

Furthermore the doctors couldn't tell if Jisung would survive a natural birth.

He was weak,
that's why the pair decided to not have a child of their own,
even though that's what both longed for the most.

♡︎

But as always,
fate wanted it differently.

Jisung got unexpectedly pregnant.

He knew that this would be his last journey.

And still he couldn't bring himself to abort his own child.

Of course Minho was against that.

He couldn't lose Jisung,
they went so far already and they promised to grow old together.

But nobody could change Jisungs mind, not Minho,
not the doctors,
not any other person.

The pregnancy went surprisingly well for the circumstances.

Jisung carried their daughter for exactly 38 weeks and 5 days without any major problems.

And he appreciated every single day he got to spend with their baby.

It was as if deep in his subconscious mind he already knew that he wouldn't see her again after the birth.

And he was almost right.

The birth was rough on his already weak body but he still managed to bring their perfectly healthy baby girl to the world.

The moment she was layed on his chest, still crying loudly because of the new surroundings and the shock from being out of the warm safe space in her papa's tummy.

A moment Minho and Jisung would never forget.

The moment they kissed her forehead for the first time.

The moment both called her with
her name for the first time:
Lee Jiwoo.

The moment her tiny hand reached out for her daddy's index finger and grasped it tightly.

The moment she opened her eyes for the very first time.

For her parents it was like they just saw the whole universe in her sparkling eyes.

The moment when she yawned and scrunched her face so darn cutely.

These moments would be treasured in both Minhos and Jisungs heart forever.

But for Minho,
his daughters birthday will never be a happy day.

♡︎

43 minutes after Jiwoo came to the world, Jisung passed away.

And with him,
Minhos hope was gone as well.

It was like the world stood still.

His other half,
the love of his life,
his best friend,
his soulmate was gone.

He felt like he had been pushed off a cliff.

♡︎

But he made a promise to Jisung.

He would take care of their daughter no matter what.

He would love her like two parents would.

Even if it was hard.

♡︎

His thoughts got interrupted when the door to his bedroom opened and Jiwoo came waddled to her daddy's bed, arms tightly wrapped around her fluffy squirrel plushie, a gift from her papa.

Climbing on the mattress with much difficulty, the two years old snuggled up to her daddy who had lifted the duvet for her.

Although she got most of her physical features from Minho besides the chubby cheeks, her behavior was so much like Jisungs.

She was cuddly,
sometimes a bit crazy,
very loud but shy when meeting strangers.

But most of all she adored Minho so much, just like Jisung.

And that's what made it hard for Minho sometimes.

He was glad that although his husband wasn't with them anymore, he still could see him in their daughter.

But on the other hand it made him miss Jisung even more.

Because the latter will never be able to see their daughter grow up.

She will never have two parents,
a perfect happy family.

Also he might be able to see Jisung in her, but she'll never be Jisung.

She'll never be able to fill this big hole that was ripped into Minhos heart when Jisung passed away.

Because she was his daughter,
not his husband.
