-The year 1978-
Hasn't she always frowned on disgustingly sweet couples? Lovers who act all lovey-dovey irritated her. But now as she looked at her hand which was intertwined with his, at that moment, she realized that's what it feels like to be in love.An outsider would look at them and think, 'that's what my love story should be like. A Perfect love story!
As she was distracted in her thoughts, she stumbled on her foot. Strong pair of hands balanced her.
"Careful there Evans. Don't find reasons to fall in these arms". She looked up at him and rolled her eyes, "Shouldn't you call me Lily? Now that I'm your girlfriend" she said with a hint of smile.
"Oh! You're now? Kiss me and prove it." She shook her head at his antics.
"Common now Lily, kiss me. I'm your boyyyfriend" he said drawing the word boy.
She just remembered their accidental first kiss. How much she was nervous, how much nervous he looked. The story of their first date always made everyone laugh. That was one hell of a crazy day. She smiled. They really have come a long way.
But this is the story for another day....
-Back to 1977-
Her eyes fluttered open to stare back at honey brown eyes. It was Marlene's.
"Oh my gosh Lily! How are you feeling now?? I was so scared" Marlene's eyes were growing big with every word and even she choked a sob at the end. Lily noticed her head was throbbing with headache.
"Hey... shh I'm fine. Just headache" after a pause "What really happened? " She tried to focus how she ended up in hospital wing, but she didn't recall anything.
"Yeah, Madam Promfey told you'll not recall anything. Someone spiked your juice with amorentia."
Amorentia? A love potion. How? Was it even legal? And why someone would do that?
But if it was Amorentia.... then... then...Oh god! Her entire reputation has ruined. Now no one will take her seriously. Had she blabbered something? Had she made a fool of herself? Maybe she'll have to go back to live with her parents. Imagine the horror. How she'd explain all this to Petunia? How smug Petunia will be? Bet she'll find it funny. But who wouldn't find this funny? Although she'd have been sympathetic if places have been switched. But who did this her?"Oh, James did this. I can't imagine that git was my best friend" Marlene was about to say more.
Lily looked at her in confusion, "What are you saying?" Then a thought struck her, "Did I just said that aloud?"
Marlene smiled and shook her head, "Nah only the part of who did this to you. But what were you thinking? Huh?"
"Wait...What? Potter did this? But why? I'm so gonna kill him. Really, low blow. Who prank others like this?" She was getting angry to hysterical. Luckily Madam Promfey chose this moment to come to her bed. She was carrying two vile looking potions which made Lily cringe her nose in disgust.
"Miss Mckinnon off you go. Your 10 minutes has passed. And Miss Evans here's sleeping drought for you" As though sensing her protests she added "You'll get all your answers when you wake up. Now". She handed her the vial.
Marlene waved at her and left. And then she saw at the door Dorcas was also peeking at her. Lily made a face at Mary which made Mary smile. Both Marlene and Mary waved and promised to come as soon as possible.
Now that she was left alone. She tried to think of reasons why anyone (or even Potter) would do this to her. Really! And wait a second if Potter had given her the potion, then potion must have developed her feelings for potter. Maybe it was a prank to get back at her for all the times he had asked her out, and she had rejected. But these date offers were a way to mock her in first place, wasn't it? Still, it was.... and she couldn't complete her thought as this sleeping drought was taking effect. But one thought persisted even in sleepy mind, she really, really hated JAMES FUCKING POTTER
