Turk's POV
Turk met Remedy just outside of the boat in a group of 30 people which worked for Ghost. Brutus was the tallest and towered over all of them.
"You're just in time for Brutus' speech. I don't know about you but he scares me a little." Remedy greeted Turk.
"He could probably snap my neck as if it were a twig. Best not get on his bad side, eh?" Turk gulped.
"Haha! Yeah, let's not do that. Who do you think is gonna be on your strike team? 3 of these 30 or so people."
"I don't know. Hopefully not the woman who saw me in the bathroom."
"I would wish you luck... but I kinda want to see what will go down. Sorry!"
"Thanks for the encouragement..."
Brutus cleared his throat and signalled for everyone to be quiet. He looked around at everyone who was there.
"Brutus needs you all to be quiet." Brutus bellowed, "The base we need to get to is quite a distance away. We also need to push this payload. It's full of spare clothing, med kits, food and more. So we can not let it be destroyed. Do not hurt any Shadow agents if they engage, Brutus will take care of them."
"Daddy! I don't want you to get hurt!" a girl with bright pink hair ran up to him and gave him a hug.
"Ocean, Brutus is trying to give a speech."
Turk surveyed the girl. She had pink hair, like the woman he saw. But it couldn't have been her, her hair was a different pink and she also seemed a few years younger. The girl went back to the group and Brutus continued his speech.
Turk looked through the crowd. He could just ask Remedy what he said in a minute. He then spotted her. The woman with pink hair, who was stood next to a large slurp creature. He had to get to her. He tapped Remedy on the shoulder.
"Remedy!" Turk whispered.
Remedy turned around, "What happened to don't get on his bad side?"
"I saw her!"
"What? The woman? Great..! I think."
"I'm going to go over to her."
"Are you serious?"
"I think so. I have to apologize, I can't get it off my mind!"
"Your funeral."
Remedy turned back to Brutus and Turk started to push his way through the crowd. People kept on shooting him angry looks.
Turk apologized to everyone, "Excuse me... sorry... I'm sorry... can you move over a bit..?"
The woman was so close. He reached out to her to try and get her attention and then everyone began to move forward. Brutus had just finished his speech. Remedy walked over to him.
"Sucks to be you." she laughed.
"Please don't." Turk groaned.
"He told us all to move quickly behind him, so we might want to start moving."
"Yeah..."
Turk and Remedy ran to catch up with the group. They were worried about their chances of survival on this island which was ridden with their enemies. Shadow is completely ruthless, and will kill anyone who is not on their side. Yet, somehow, Brutus had managed to claim a small plot of land for Ghost.
The walk was quick at first but it felt painful about halfway through. The temperature was hot and not one for walking in. Turk felt sweaty and wanted to arrive in the hopefully air conditioned base.
"How much further is it?" Turk asked Remedy.
"I don't know. I can see it over there, if that helps." Remedy sighed.
"So not a lot further?"
"Probably."
They both stopped talking. A large person saw them and ran back to the payload. He reached into the payload and smuggled out two drinks and walked back. He gave them to the two.
"What? Oh, thanks! How did you get these?" Remedy asked.
"I grabbed them when Brutus wasn't looking." the bush smiled.
"Do you want some of mine?"
"No, I'm a bush fairy. I only need to eat nectar. I'm Birch, by the way. But most people call me Bushranger."
"I'm Diana, but everyone calls me Remedy."
"Tom, also Turk. I'm her younger brother." Turk told Bushranger.
Bushranger cocked his head to the side, "Oh, I know you! Aren't you the one who harassed Journey?"
"Harassed? I didn't-"
"That's only how I heard it. I don't know if it's true."
Turk looked at the row of people travelling across the grasslands. He looked for the girl Bushranger called Journey. Bushranger looked upset.
"I didn't mean to upset you!" he squealed.
"It's fine." Turk replied automatically.
"He normally doesn't care about this sort of thing." Remedy comforted him.
Turk trusted that Bushranger would believe her as it was true. He was just upset because that woman was gone. Again. He sighed and stopped looking. She was probably in a huddle with a group of other people.
The base was in sight. Brutus started to run faster, and so did everyone else. When Brutus arrived, he unlocked the gate and got the payload in. The base was a lot smaller than Turk had imagined it. It was a simple metal structure, like the one that used to be there in Dusty Depot. Not that Turk would have known what Dusty Depot was.
"Get your stuff ready and meet Brutus in the office."Brutus shouted.
Brutus walked into the office and the group dispersed, leaving Remedy and Turk standing there. Remedy turned to Turk.
"Well, I guess I'll meet you there." Remedy shrugged.
"OK, bye." Turk waved. To be continued...
