Chapter 42: Want To Make A Deal, Gorgeous?

I'm in a field outside of Divine Academy, apparently the gymnasium isn't big enough for the angels to train. The courtyard is used as an extension to the training, I suppose the open outdoor space lends itself nicely for telekinesis and light; the two lessons I'm here for today. Miss Clover teachers the latter, the one which I've shown no indication of having. This makes me nervous, especially with the incoming battle in hell; I need to be my strongest and best. I'm wearing leggings and a green sports bra, high ponytail with a pair of trainers.

"Livi," he calls and my heart pounds against my chest. "Before Miss Clover comes we're going to spa, want to join?"

"Sure, only if you promise not to cry."

He chuckles and shakes his head, "You've never seen me fight. You don't know my capabilities."

"Please," I go next to him and smirk. "Demonstrate away."

His eyes widen partially before he looks away, cheeks flushing, "Um, Gwen usually orchestrates the sparing sessions before the teacher arrives. So I think we should go to her."

I shrug and brush past him, loving the way he reacted. I surely can't be the only one having some feelings, or emotions, or hormones erupt when we're in each other's presence. He's constantly on my mind and the only reason I like coming to this castle, especially when some angels are being judgmental.

"The halfbreed has joined us," calls out a brown skinned girl with olive undertones, black long hair tied in a single plait with light hazel eyes and a slim figure. "Someone ought to teach her a lesson."

"Don't be such a bitch Ally," Gwen says with her hands on her hips. "She's half angel too."

"But she's also half demon," Ally grimaces as if she has a bad taste in her mouth. "We all know what her kind are like. How does it feel to eat souls for dinner?"

I only smile, "Delightful. Never had angel before though, want to make a deal, gorgeous?"

She looks disgusted, "Angels can't sell their souls, stupid. We're pure."

"I'm the stupid one yet you think my kind actually eat souls?" I snort and roll my eyes. "I think you're the one who needs to be educated."

She blushes in embarrassment as some of her peers laugh at her. It isn't her fault, just like Ashton said last time, we only know what people tell us. How we take it is a different thing, yet it only shows what a person is like.

"I want to spar her," Ally says to Gwen.

Gwen shrugs, "I don't see why not. You up for it Olivia?"

I nod, stepping into the circle stretching out my limbs.

"The rules are simple," Gwen begins. "You have two minutes on the clock. You can use your full power-"

"Gwen Livi hasn't trained enough to use her powers effectively," Ashton jumps in.

"What?" Ally pouts. "Little Liv can't handle a bit of damage?"

My face drops as I cast a glare on her, "Fine. Full powers. Let's go."

"Livi-"

"Drop it Ashton," Ally sneers. "She's already signed her fate."

I roll my shoulders and raise my fists in front of me, knowing what I can and cannot do. The crowd thickens, murmurs arising as some people place bets. Flight seems pointless, she's obviously stronger than me in that department. Light is a no show, yet the only one I'm confident in is telekinesis, yet I don't even know how to use that properly either. Only when I have heightened anger or self defense.

She cracks her neck, positioning herself too before waiting for Gwen's signal. With a blow of a whistle, Ally lashes her long leg for my head; parrying I block and close the distance, clashing my elbow into her chin and kneeing her stomach. Staggering backwards she puts her hands together, a glow appearing in her palms. Realizing what's coming I roll out of the way, the thin stream of white light streaming out and intensifying like a laser. The angels surrounding had already prepared with full-length shields which absorb and disperse the energy. A bead of sweat dribbles down her temple as her arms slightly shake, concentrating on redirecting the beam. I roll out of the way as it lands on the grass, slowly causing the patch to crinkle and die. I roll out of the way again, landing on my feet and launching myself in her direction.

I barrel into her side, both of falling onto the floor, the air being knocked out of my lungs. Straddling her hips I begin slamming my fists into her face, her nose cracking beneath my pummels. She releases a cry, her wings pushing her upwards and over, I lose balance and fall off and she takes the high ground. She pins my hands down with her knees, elbow crunching my cheek. My head whips and eyes shut in pain, I let out a groan just as she lands a mean hook to my jaw.

I didn't even feel it build, it just lashes out this time. She was on me, then she wasn't. She let's out a scream as she flies into the shields, landing onto the floor with a sickening thud. I let out a tiring breath as I touch my bruised jaw, the tender skin already healing. I get onto my feet as the angels look at me in shock. I roll my shoulders and go to finish her off, only Gwen's whistle pierces the air and stops me dead in my tracks. Ally pushes herself up and let's out a whimper.

"Damn Livi," Ashton mutters. "You didn't tell me how good your telekinetic capabilities are."

"What was wrong with her powers?" I ask quietly. "I thought light would be more... full on."

He tugs me out of the way as another pair moves into the circle; Ally is guided off, a boy cracking her nose into place before it fully heals. Ashton nods, "Angels are team workers. Whenever they round up souls or do routines around the humans, we are more powerful using light in unison. Have you ever watched Ghostbusters?"

"Ghost what?" I ask in confusion.

He shakes his head, "They're more powerful connecting it together, the beam intensifies a lot more and even thickens. Ally is a talented angel, however she wanted to show off her abilities she knew you didn't have. You took her off-guard with what you can do."

"Why? Aren't angels good at it?"

"Depends who your parents are," he comments. "Since you have Lucifer as a father, that would definitely cause you to be powerful since he was an archangel. There are twelve others, such as my father, Gabriel."

I blink in surprise, "Oh shit, that explains a lot."

Ashton only chuckles, "I think we should work on your telekinesis."

"Why? Surely I should try out that light shit."

"No," he shakes his head. "Your telekinesis is strong and wild, I'd prefer to try and tame it."

I pout and huff, "Fine. Yet shouldn't Miss Clover be doing this? Since she is a teacher after all."

He shrugs, "I like to help. Now, sit down and cross your legs, we're going to meditate."

I raise my brows as I watch the handsome boy sit down and proceeds to put his hands on his knees, looking up at me in expectation. Sighing, I mimic him, looking at him in expectation. "Rest your hands on your knees, take a deep breath and close your eyes. The idea of this is to focus on yourself, the way you breathe, what you're thinking about and your powers."

We take a couple of minutes of just breathing, until I feel like I've calmed down, my entire physique relaxing with each breath as I become more of aware of my stress, what's causing it and the deep power churning within me. I focus it, the swirling power in my chest that seems calm and not feral. I reach out and it reacts, somewhat flinching as I try to embrace it. It seems reluctant at first, yet I keep calm, breathing slowly. Inhale, exhale. The power unravels, no pressure, just invisible tendrils hugging me like an old friend, going through my limbs and causing me to buzz with it's energy. I accept it, it accepts me and we become one.

"Livi?"

I snap my eyes open and notice I'm levitating. Instead of freaking, I focus more, letting out an exhale as I push back on the invisible embrace. I slowly sit down.
