Awakening Our Powers I

Location: Goldenrod City Pokemon Center

I paced back and forth, waiting for Raina to come back soon. I literally come back from Ecruteak to just find out that I accidentally left Rain at the Library back in Azalea Town. Right after I left Ecruteak, I found out that Raina went to the Whirl Islands thanks to a text that she sent right after I left her back in Azalea.

Speaking of Raina, she just came in. She looked normal, but she had a cherry blossom clip  in her hair and she had this glowing silver aura around her. We stared at each other. "So..." Raina looked at me. "How was Ecruteak?"

"Uh..." I scratched the back of my neck. "it's kind of a long story..." Raina laughed, sitting on the bed. "It's okay. I have a long story too. So, go ahead, Owen. Tell me!"

And so I told her everything. The Bell Tower, the journal, Ho-Oh's appearance, getting to battle Ho-Oh, and then becoming Ho-Oh's Patron. Raina raised her eyebrows as her crimson eyes widened. "Wow, Owen. I'm impressed. Did Ho-Oh give you an Item of Power?" I showed her my amulet. "Yep!" I then realized something. "Wait a second," I looked at her. "How do you know about Items of Power?"

Raina blinked, before bursting out in a fit of laughter. "Guess now's the time to tell you about my time at the Whirl Islands." I laughed. "Yes. Yes, you do." Raina finished laughing and started to explain. From arriving to the Whirl Islands to leaving them.

"Woah," I was amazed. "You're Lugia's Patron?" Raina nodded. "Yep!" She pointed to the cherry blossom clip in her hair. "After I defeated  Lugia, he gave me this clip and then the Kimono Girls told me that I can control water and air. But to be honest, I don't feel that powerful."

I nodded. "Same here. The Kimono Girls told me that my father's journal will help me," I held it up. "I read some of it and it talked about something like, awakening our Patron powers. What about the other journal?"

Raina got out a journal identical to the one I found, except this one had a cherry blossom on the front instead of a feather. "I found it in the cavern, saying that it belongs to your father and his descendants," She took the label sticker off, revealing that it actually said, Property of Leo Kai and Nathan Zephyr. "But, that was a fake label. It doesn't just belong to your father, Owen. It belongs to mine as well!"

My eyes widened. "So that means...that our dads knew each other?!" Raina nodded. "If you put it that way, then yeah. Oh, and about reading it, it was all journal accounts with drawings and photographs. And I found something out." "Really? What is it?" I asked.

Raina opened the journal. "According to one of the journal accounts, once you become a Patron and given an Item of Power after battling a Legendary Pokemon, your powers remain dormant unless or until you awaken them. You can awaken your powers by focusing on your Item of Power and trying to communicate with your Legendary." She explained. "Alright. Let's risk it together, shall we?" I asked Raina. She grinned. "Let's do this." Both of us closed our eyes, only to see black.
