"y/n, wake up. you need to get up and get ready for school!" a voice called out, shaking my arm. as my eyes fluttered open, i saw sugawara, trying to wake me up.

rubbing me eyes, i sat up without saying a word. sugawara smiled, then walked out of my room. he already knows i don't like talking in the morning. after getting up, i got ready to go to school.

after putting on my uniform, i walked out to the living room where sugawara was.

"y/n, i have a question." sugawara said, turning towards me. i hummed a 'yes' while sitting down next to him.

"so, kiyoko is a third year and we're looking for another manager that's a first year. do you want to be a manager for our team?" sugawara offered.

"hmmm, no." i said bluntly, looking at him.

"why not? please, you already kinda met them and you're friends with hinata, right?" sugawara debated, not wanting to give up yet.

"they all look so scary. maybe except yamaguchi and hinata, but still." i argued back, thinking about everyone on the volleyball team.

"okay. can you think about it a little more though?" sugawara replied, sighing.

"don't count on it." i said back, smiling a bit. sugawara smiled back, messed up my hair, then got up. i stood up after him as we both left to go to school.

as we both got to school, i rushed to my class and sat down. nothing much happened today, but nothing ever happens any day.

lunch rolled around slowly while i put in my earbuds and debated on getting juice.

the vending machine was all the way downstairs and outside, but i really wanted juice.

i've gotten juice from the vending machine before, so it was no problem getting it again. i stood up, and walked down the hallway to the stairs. while i was at one of the last steps until i felt a foot step in front of mine, making me stumble.

tripping on the step, my heart raced as i was falling, bound to hit the floor. closing my eyes as in instinct, suddenly i felt myself hit somebody's chest and arms stable my sides.

"you're so clumsy, short ass." a monotonous voice said, yet i could hear a smirk through his voice. is it who i think it is. looking up at tsukishima, i didn't move at all. my face turned bright pink and my eyes widened, and i was paralyzed.

"are you brain dead or something, sugawara?" tsukishima retorted, looking down at me and flicking my forehead. that broke my gaze.

"ow! what the hell tsukishima!" i exclaimed, flinching hard. his forehead flicks were extremely painful, and you probably had a big red mark on your forehead.

"you'll be fine, sugawara." he said, rubbing the top of my head.

"and don't call me sugawara. it's like you're talking to my brother." i mumbled. he snickered, and let go of me.

"watch where you're going next time." tsukishima said, walking past me and going up the stairs. my cheeks were still heated and bright pink, so i looked down, making sure to watch my step while going to get my juice from the vending machine.

the bell rang, signaling that it was the end of the day. i packed up all my things, then walked down the hallways. then i thought about what sugawara had offered.

it would be nice to be in a club, or be a part of anything in general. and i'd have something to look forward to after school everyday.

shrugging it off, i continued going downstairs. before i left the school grounds, i turned back around since i decided to tell sugawara that i'm going straight home.

as i peeked through the metal doors, i saw sugawara talking with kiyoko.

"she said she doesn't want to do be the manager." sugawara said to kiyoko. kiyoko nodded.

"that's a shame—" kiyoko began to say. suddenly, something changed my mind suddenly and i stepped inside the gym.

"i'll do it."
