"Beckett I have to talk to you about something."
"Okay?" I put down my sandwich.
"Well I was recently informed about a certain wish we are given. Basically a dying wish. Do you get the point?" She moved her hands in a circular motion.
"Not really-" she cut me off.
"Excellent, you understand-"
"Actually I don't-" she cut me off once again.
"Well because I forgot, I do have this one thing written on my list that I've wanted to do." She smiled widely.
"Which is?"
"Traveling to Hawaii."
"Okay. You're crazy." I turned back around and continued eating my sandwich.
"Beckett!"
"Sorry Evie but it's true. My mom would never let me go to Hawaii. Especially with my up coming surgery in my left leg."
"When is it scheduled?" She asked impatiently.
"In three months."
"Are you kidding me? That's like three months away!"
"Well, yeah I would assume so-"
"Point is, we can still make it happen! My dad and his twenty year old girlfriend and her kids. Then your mum, you and me. All together!"
"I don't know Evie. It'll take a lot of convincing."
"Well you better hurry up."
"Why?"
"Because I already told the genies and they're all for it. We leave in two weeks."
"What? Two-two weeks? Evangeline!"
"Also your mom knows."
"So basically everyone knew except me."
"Pretty much. Yeah."
"Why couldn't you just say that?"
"I dunno."
I stared at her shocked. My mom already agreed to go. Evangeline made it seem like I still had to convince and ask my mom. My question is how did she convince her everything was going to be okay.
"Alright. You have two weeks to pack everything you need! HAWAII HERE WE COME!" Shouted Evangeline in excitement. She ran out of my room after that.
"WE'RE GOING TO HAWAII!" I hear shouting from the hallway.
"Well I see someone's excited." My mom walks into my room.
"Yeah Evangeline's pretty excited-"
"I'm talking about you."
"What do you mean?"
"I know you're screaming inside. Hawaii? We've always wanted to go. Garret, Grayson, you and I have always wanted to go." She smiled widely. I knew she missed Garret. It's been eight years since we last heard from him. Grayson and I barely spoke. Ever since I got sick, I haven't seen him around. I hear he still talks to my mom though.
"You miss Garret, don't you." I asked. She looked down and smiled softly.
"Yes. You boys are my world. I just feel like I failed as a mother. All of you don't speak. I have one who left, one who's angry and another who's sick. Now's the time for us to be there for each other."
"I know mom. A letter from Garret would be nice. A conversation from Grayson would be nice. Me being cancer free would be a miracle. But Garret is selfish. Grayson is angry because I'm sick. And I'm just sick. Things don't always go as plan. You'll see Garret soon. Hopefully I do as well."
"You will see your brother. He'll come back to us. Now, I have to go. I need a whole new wardrobe for Hawaii." She got up and walked towards the door.
"Wait mom-" I shouted before she left; she turned.
"How long are we going to be there?"
"One week. Evangeline is getting more and more sick each day and Doctor Walsh and her father refuse to risk anything any longer." She walked out.
Once my mom said that, I realized this was Evangeline's last trip. I better make it a good one. I was her to remember it for wherever to great mind was headed to next.
