Blair's POV

Mondays are the worst. Especially if some of the customers in the dinner are already drunk by 8 a.m. Of course that's my assumption based on what happens every other monday.I can't really complain much since it's the only job I could find where my background wouldn't affect me. I flutter my eyes as my vision refocuses and check the time on my alarm clock. I'm thirteen minutes earlier than the alarm and I smile because for me, that spells 'short nap' . I let my eyes close again as I let myself go back to Dreamland when...
RRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNGGGGGGGG!!!!
My eyes instantaneously open wide as I sit up straight, more awake than ever. I quickly grab the alarm clock , turn it off and frown at the time because it's now 6 a.m. sharp. That thirteen minutes today felt like ten seconds if you ask me and so I grumpily head to my little closet and grab a blue turtle neck, some loose black ripped jeans and a pair of black converse. I then head to the bathroom as I think about my other pair of shoes that need to be replaced since they're worn out.

Heading to the kitchen after freshening up, I grab a Apple for breakfast and head out. I mostly eat breakfast at the dinner since Mrs Huggins usually leaves a baked pie for me. She has these crystal green eyes you could almost mistaken them for contact lenses and shoulder length blond hair with streaks of gray. Her body is medium , if you were to wire her from behind with a hat on her head, you'd probably think she's in her mid twenties because of her sense of style. Anyways, She's my employer and the owner of the dinner. She's the only person who hired me without judging me.

A few months ago.....

"So,why do you think we should hire you Ms ermm..."
"Lethall, Blair Lethall." , I answered calmly as my potenial employer asked.
"Wait,Lethall as in daughter of Flame Lethall?" , She asked as eyes were now focused on me.
"Yes... Ma'am I am a fast learner and I can work without supervision. Working here in your lovely Bakery would be great a I feel I can learn so much more." , I swiftly replied with enthusiasm , trying to hide the nervousness that lied within me.
"I'm sorry Mrs.. Lethall but we've already chosen someone else for this job."
"But I'm the first one you've interviewed ." , I pointed out.
"Well I've made up my mind. Now be a good dear and let the next interviewee come in." She said as she looked back at the files on her desk, pretending to be busy.
"Thank you for your time." I stated emotionlessly as I stormed off and climbed the nearest cab I could stop.

****************

That has happened to every other job I was interviewed for. My mother was a stripper, a famous one apparently and if not the cold replies, lustful glares will be shot at me if the interviewer is male. Anyways that's life and you just gotta suck it up.
Finally reaching the the dinner, I stumble across a few mini boxes and my mind is buzzing with curiosity. I then look up as I stand to my full length and I see Mrs Huggins locking the dinner.
"Morning Mrs H." I greet her cheerfully.
"Ah, Blair. Morning...." , She trails of in a serious tone. Something is most definitely up.
"I was actually looking for you. So my cousin in France just offered me a business opportunity to open up my very own resturant and I accepted since it's a really great opportunity..."
"That's great, I'm happy for you" , I said in an excited tone.
" Yes... But unfortunately, I have to let you go since I've sold the dinner and the new owner wants to turn it into a studio or something." , She paused as she waited for the information to sink in.
"Oh." , was all that managed to escape my mouth as I was still in shock.
"Oh dear... I'm really sorry , and I hoped you'd understand this is a big thing for-"
"No I do.. I do.. I'll just miss you that's all. And it's like a bomb dropped on me" , I mumbled as I wondered what my life would be like being far away from her. Mrs Huggins has been the nicest elderly person in this neighborhood and it breaks my heart knowing that she won't be here anymore.
"Oh my little Blair.." ,she sighed as she pulled me into a hug.
"I'll miss you too. Now if you're like this I'm gonna burst into tears."
That made me giggle.
"I'm not."
"And don't think I forgot about your job dilemma.."
"Huh?" , I responded in confusion as she broke the hug and handed me a paper.
"It's an advertisement flier. They are looking for house helps if you're down for the job. The distance is a little great and that's the advantage I hope ..but I don't think they'll won't pick you because I'm assuming they don't know your mother. Anyways I just thought of handing the flier to you, that is if you're interested. "
I bit my lip as I quickly thought of the job description. At this point, even this job is fine with me.
"I'll pass through." I sighed.
"Anyways, I have to hand over the key, he so I have to go now. We'll keep in touch" , she said as the movers picked up the last of the two boxes and put them in the van. I waved at the van as it disappeared into the busy plague of vehicles. Looking at the flier once more, the only thing I could hope for is that I'll get hired there. Yep, it's a hard knock life.
