Special Crime Investigation Department (SCID)
Maya surveyed the large windows which were reflecting the sunlight on the emblem of the department. The entrance was strongly guarded by security. No one could enter the building easily. She showed her ID(identity) card before entering the well-lit lobby, which had held so many awards from the various accomplishments made by the department. She went further down the corridor and noticed detectives and determined officers engaged in their work.
Maya passed through the corridors and entered the superior's office. She looked at the superior straight in the eye and saluted her.
Maya(firm): Officer Maya, reporting ma'am!
Emma: Welcome to the department Maya! We're glad to have you with us onboard. I've heard a lot about you from your seniors.
Maya(shy): I'm flattered.
Emma(smiled): Don't be modest. Be proud.
There was a knock at the door.
Emma(firm): Come in!
Two officers entered.
Emma(to them): Meet Maya! She'll be joining hands with you both on the killer's case from now on. Make sure that she feels welcomed.
Arjun(strict tone): I'm Arjun Sharma.
Maya nodded quietly, a bit intimidated by his deep hoarse voice.
Rudra (smiled): I'm Rudra Roy. You can call me Roy. Don't need to be formal.
Maya smiled back. She made a quick observation unconsciously. Arjun seemed distant and aloof, whereas Rudra seemed friendly. Both had deep voices but Arjun's voice sounded more hoarse and raspy.
A shrill blare of the emergency buzzer went off in the entire building, catching their attention.
PING!
Arjun(checked his phone): There is an intel about the killer. We need to dispatch immediately.
Emma(nodded): Go ahead!
Arjun and Rudra grabbed their earpieces and other equipment. They rushed outside the building, along with Maya closely following them from behind. As Maya made her way towards the exit, she could observe the chaos that the intel had created for the whole department. The officers had sprung into action. The emergency sirens that had gone off in the entire building made her a bit nervous but she didn't let it show on her face. She had accepted the fact that this case wasn't going to be a cakewalk for her. Arjun could observe her uneasiness, but remained to stay quiet.
Another officer followed up with them.
Arjun: What's the situation, JJ?
JJ: The killer is weaponed. It'll be difficult if anyone is taken hostage. We need to make sure everyone is safe and sound.
Rudra : Did you trace his location?
JJ: The last time he was seen was near the Violetta Cafe.
Maya(interrupted suddenly): What cafe?
JJ(surprised): Violetta Cafe. Why? Is something wrong?
Maya(exclaimed): Nothing! You guys go ahead. I'll catch up with you soon.
JJ(shouted): Where is she going now? It's a critical situation.
Arjun(in a serious tone): JJ, inform the nearest hospitals to send ambulances at the location. Roy, inform Team 1, 2 and 3 to dispatch immediately. Tell them not to take any actions at the scene UNTIL TOLD!
...
In the car,
Maya(on call): Abhimanyu, where is Shivaye? He is not picking up my call.
...: What happened? You sound tense!
Maya: A killer is roaming free near the Violetta Cafe. Leave the place and take everyone home safely. The situation is pretty bad right now.
...: Hold on! Maya.....
