The city lights were passing by as Ian and I sped down the highway on his bike. He had to be going at least 90mph. On a normal day this would have freaked me out, especially because we are on a bike, but for some reason, I was able to overlook the near-death part of the night. It was almost as if he made me feel safe.
We had gotten off the highway and were now sitting at a stoplight. I looked around the street realizing we were nowhere near my house.
"So where exactly are we going?" I asked looking around the unfamiliar street. There was literally no sign of life for at least a mile. The only thing on the street was a gas station and it looked abandoned. Horrible thoughts raced through my head about how he could murder me right now and he didn't even have to try to get me to go with him. 'So, this is where I die' I thought to myself.
"You'll see," He responds, still looking out to the street. The light turns green and the familiar sound of the bike roaring to life fills the empty street. He speeds down the street and still, there was not a building in sight. Even though I was scared for my life, I took time to take in all the nature around me and realized how nice and relaxing it was.
The bike started to slow down and we pulled over next to what appeared to be a path that led into the woods. This just kept getting worse and worse. There was nothing I could do now except accepting my fate. The streetlights were the only source of light making the rest of the path, except for the beginning, pitch black. He switched the engine off on the bike and put down the kickstand. Does he actually expect me to go in there with him because last I checked this is the type of place where people die.
"You ready," He states as he takes off his helmet and turns around to look at me. He gives me a light smile as I stare back. Was he seriously asking me that?
"I don't think so," I say in a questioning tone. "But I don't have a choice do I?"
"Not really Muffin," He says as he reaches over to take off my helmet. His fingers brush over my chin as he unbuckles the clasp. They linger on my face for a moment before he pulls the helmet off my head. I wanted to just grab his face and kiss him at that exact moment, but I controlled myself.
"Come on," He says as he gets off the bike. He reaches his hand out to help me and I gladly take the help. Once we are both off the bike, he puts the helmets on the handlebars. He grabs my hand and I immediately get butterflies. His hand fits over mine perfectly, almost as if they were made for each other. I am definitely reading into this way too much and need to stop before I get too ahead of myself.
He leads me down the hidden path in what seems to go deeper into the forest that goes on for miles. We walk for what seems to be forever when we suddenly reach an opening at the end of the path. We step out of the trees and my eyes widen at the sight in front of me.,
We were at the top of a hill and directly in front of us was a mini waterfall with a gorgeous clear lake at the bottom. The noise of the water falling into the lake was so faint, which explains why it was impossible to hear from the street. It was the most relaxing thing I have ever seen. I stood there in awe taking in all the beautiful nature around me. It was a mirror image of the stuff I watch on youtube to make me relax.
"I'm guessing you like this place," He said. I turned to look at him the biggest smile on my face. "It's just so..." I couldn't find the right word to describe it. No amount of words can do this location justice. It was better than what you see in the movies. It left me speechless.
"That's exactly how I felt when I first saw it." He said. I glanced at him. He was staring into the distance, fixated on the water. He looked so focused. I liked seeing the non-bad boy side of him. It was cute.
