Never would I have ever expected things to end up like this. This wasn't supposed to happen. Maybe I deserved it, but he didn't. He was the innocent one. I should have stopped it when I could.
"Please don't do this," he screamed,"I'll do anything, just please!"
Dante laughed and aimed his gun at Johnny's head and pulled the trigger. Three times. He kicked his lifeless body off the ledge. All I could do was watch him plummet into the ocean.
"I'm sorry, Johnny," I whispered.
Dante walked over to me and bent down.
"You better learn from this, son," he spat in my face,"we don't tolerate traitors. Especially within our family."
Family? He really considers this group of deceiving, heartless bastards to be a family?
"If you ever help someone cheat us again, I'll butcher you. You hear?"
I stared into his dead eyes and nodded. He stood up and gestured for someone to untie my rope. Two men cut the rope off my hands and feet and lifted me by my arms and held me in place. Dante looked at me and in a slight second, his expression changed from anger to fury. Before I could realize what was happening, he delivered several brutal punches straight into my gut. I began to cough up blood immediately after.
He got a fistful of my hair and lifted my head up and looked straight into my eyes and said,"don't you ever betray me again, boy".
As soon as he let go of my hair, my head fell back down.
"Let's go," he said to his four companions. The two men let go of my arms and I dropped to the floor. Dante looked down on me and said,"You're a part of this family now to take place of little Johnny. Don't you try and leave this town. We'll find you."
And with that, Dante and his group sped away on their motorcycles. I clenched my torso tightly as I let the tears spill. I heard loud screams but when I looked around, no one was there. It took me a minute to realize it was myself who was screaming.
I didn't want them to come back. I didn't want to see them ever again. I didn't want to be a part of this awful group. The anxiety made me vomit. I let it all out the best I could and tried to stand up. My torso was on fire, the pain was excruciating.
I crawled to the ledge and looked over, with the small hopes of seeing Johnny alive.
"Johnny!" I screamed,"Johnny, come back!"
My heart broke with each call. I had to face reality.
Johnny was gone.
