Polygamy VS. Polyamory

Polygamy (simplified)

A/n: I have researched all of this , and this book is meant to educate. No I'm not a professional but, I have the facts.

Before we start , remember polygamy and polyamory aren't the same thing.

What does polygamy mean ?

Polygamy means the practice or custom of having more than one wife or husband at the same time.

This practice has been around for ages, and is way older then polyamory. Polygamy comes from the late Greek word πολυγαμία, polygamía which means , "state of marriage to many spouses."

What many don't know is there are 2 different types of polygamy.

Polygyny- In which a man is married to multiple women or in sexual relationships to multiple women , this is the most common form of polygamy. 

Polyandry- A woman marrying multiple men or in a sexual relationship with multiple men during the same time period. This type of polygamy isn't as common as the first, but it is mostly found in cultures with scarcity of resources and in some Inuit cultures to protect the wife (this is simplified, don't think you want the full in detail sha-bang ).

Polygamy is strictly heterosexual , with one male/female marrying or in sexual relationships to the opposite sex.
This is different then polyamory because not all participants are in a relationship togather and it isn't any gender like polyamory, only the opposite sex.

Polygamy is considered taboo in many countries, and has been around all through history. Not saying it's wrong to be in a polygamy reltionship , it's more of a "You do you thing."
