The day was nearing night, and Mei Hatsume was finally ready to hand Izuku his blazer back. Why had she kept it for longer than intended? It was warm and cozy, and to say she fell asleep while using it as a blanket would be nothing but concrete fact.

With a single knock on their dorm building's door, she opened it. Immediately, a decent number of eyes fell on her. They stayed for a few seconds, turning curious and confused. Why was she at their dorm building? Iida, ever observant, noticed the blazer in her hands and connected the dots.

"Good evening, everyone!" Her voice was like lightning, striking everybody into exhaustion. Everybody knew Mei. Not everybody was happy they did. So, Iida took it upon himself to quickly get the situation over with.

"Evening, Hatsume. I suppose you've come to return Midoriya's blazer?" She nodded rapidly. "I can give it to him if you want." He held out his hand. If he could get the blazer, Mei would probably leave right away. As part of the majority, he'd like that.

It wasn't that everyone hated her or anything. She just had a reputation for being very annoying when it came to how excessive she was. Social skills weren't her strong point and the students of the first year already had their fair amount of daily stress.

"That's okay, glasses. I'm bored right now, so I'll hand it to him myself!" She ignored Iida's defeated look and strode up the stairs. The people in the common room sighed. Mei was like a walking exam. Hard to understand, exhausting, and pretty much ignorant of any and all feelings.

Luckily for Mei, she knew Izuku's dorm room was on the second floor... Don't ask.

She couldn't help but smile just a little wider when she spotted his door down the hall. With a little pep in her step, she stopped in front of it and knocked.

At first, there was no answer from the other side of the door. Mei put her ear on the door and could hear some faint music and a low humming voice. Understanding that Izuku was probably busy, she knocked even louder the second time.

A small pause in sound appeared before footsteps came toward the door. Mei took a step back and smiled as Izuku opened the door. He had an uninterested look but was temporarily surprised when he saw Mei. Out of everyone he expected, she wasn't very high up on his list.

"Hey, Midoriya." She was excited but calm. Her chest felt weird when Izuku looked at her. It tightened even just a tiny bit. "Hatsume." It wasn't really a greeting, but he said her name so who really cared? Mei didn't.

"What are you doing here?" For a second time that day, Mei was asked that question. She grinned widely as she brought his blazer out from her back. "I'm here to return your blazer!" She smiled so wide, Izuku swore he could see light come from behind her. Probably just the sun. Yeah...

He eyed it for a second before grabbing it. "Thanks." He turned around to go back inside his room. "Hey, Midoriya?" Izuku stopped and looked back at her. "Do you, maybe, want to eat lunch together tomorrow too?" Why was she looking at the floor? Why was her face slightly warmer than usual?

"Sure." She looked up at him, the blazer over his shoulder as he gently smiled at her. "As long as you're fine with me bringing a friend along?" He wanted to bring a friend. Maybe it was that Urarararkka girl? Or maybe that frog girl? Why did she care, again?!

"That's okay! See you on the roof tomorrow!" She strolled away happily. Izuku was eating lunch with her again! He was bringing a friend, sure, but he was still eating lunch with her! Why did it make her so goddamn happy? Maybe an invention could explain it?

Finally closing his door, Izuku threw the blazer at the foot of his bed before crashing down on it. "So, you're not a complete douchebag to everybody?" Tokoyami asked mockingly from the office chair by his desk. "Shut up." Turning around and staring at the ceiling, Izuku contemplated why being around Mei made him temporarily forget things.
