Chapter 1

November 27th

The ringtone "marimba" is what wakes me up on my first day taking my mother's place where she used to work, and I have to live up to the expectations that my mother had left for me, since I just graduated medical school in the top five in my class about a month ago, I was looking for places to work but then the incident happened and I decided that it was better for me to move back home and take care of Colby, my very intelligent 12 year old brother.

Since everyone who was at the funeral worked at the hospital and they realized I was back for good, they decided that I could have my mother's position since before I went to med-school she taught me everything she knew, so they figured I would be the best person to take her place.

So here I am now, standing in front of my bathroom mirror trying to get myself ready to face a new day. Lily, one of my best friends, should be getting here any minute to take Rose and I to work. But before she gets here I need to check on Colby to make sure he's going to be alright here until I come home for an hour to make him lunch during my break. I don't worry much about him though since he has an eidetic memory and he knows how to keep himself busy for awhile without needing anyone.

As I walk towards his room I notice Rose is in the kitchen making her famous scrambled eggs (there really isn't anything special about them, they're just scrambled eggs but Lily and I say that to her so we don't have to cook for ourselves)

"You seem tense, anything bothering you Violet?" asks Rose as she finishes up the eggs

"Well it is my first day working at this huge hospital and I don't even think I'm going to do that good of a job, I'm just so nervous that I'm going to mess this up and disappoint my mom, it's just all happening so fast I don't know what to do." I said to her in one breath

"You have nothing to worry about! Yes I know that everything is hard on you because you're only 22 and now you're the legal guardian of your brother, everything is changing and you don't think you're quite ready for it all yet, but it's okay... you're allowed to feel however you want to feel but as your best friend I know that you'll be just fine, you're such a strong girl Violet, don't ever forget that... and you have Lily and I to help you along the way so you don't ever have to feel like you're alone during all of this because we will be here for you whenever you need us."

and after Rose said that I couldn't help but cry tears of joy and run up to her and hug her and thank her for moving in here with me and helping me remember that I'm not alone.

Minutes later there was a knock at the door and then Lily walked in all ready in her light blue scrubs and we were ready to go.

As I walked into the automatic doors of the very cold hospital, I'm greeted by my one and only guy friend, Harry Styles. He's been one of my good friends ever since my dad left my mother and I when he found out she was pregnant of Colby, he also had decided that before he left he wanted to state that he was leaving because he wanted to "travel the world, and experience more of life's offers before he was apart of a family and took care of another kid." It was hard on me since I was only around the age of 14 when this happened and it didn't really make much sense to me but I was still daddy's little girl, and one day daddy wasn't there anymore to fight off the monsters in my head. I did have my mother to help me though, and she did absolutely everything she could to make sure I was okay... well as okay as a 14 year old girl could be when she found out her dad left because of her unborn brother.

As I walked in and saw Harry for the first time in what seemed like ages but was really only a couple of weeks he ran up to me and engulfed me into a big hug and introduced me to my assistant Luna, that was going to be helping me out as I checked on all of the patients.

The day went by relatively quickly for a day I was dreading, I got everything done just like my mother had taught me. As I was in Lily's car getting a ride home once again and I was reading through all of the "Welcome Back!" cards I had gotten along with all of the beautiful flowers, I began to think of how the flower shop on the corner of the street I lived on back when I moved to New Jersey, had the most beautiful flowers that were so bright and full of life they could instantly make you smile just by glancing at them, I started to remember how I used to go there every month and buy a violet for my mother (since it was her favorite flower) and I would mail it to her along with a letter about how my studies were going. She used to love my letters, she kept every single one in her journal. I still haven't brought myself to open up her journal, I just know my letters are there because as I picked up her journal to put in the "Keep" box one of them fell out.

As Lily parked the car and I walked up to my door and unlocked it, I decided it was time for some alone time since I had another hour or so until Harry brought Rose home and she would lie to me once again only to say that she had extra papers to put into the computer, but I know that her and Harry have a thing going on, I knew from the second I walked into the hospital and he looked at her for a moment before running to me.

So I decided that it was time for a bubble bath and some coffee. And that is what happened for the rest of the evening before Rose came home and we went out to dinner to Chili's with Colby and Lily.

I hope you all enjoy my story, I'm sorry if it's not that good but I have a lot of plans for this story and I hope you stick around and read it:) Im trying to have an update schedule if you guys want me to have one I'll try to update at LEAST once a week hope you guys don't mind! And I'm not the only one running this account so this is my only story and the two others are my friends.
