THE WORLD OF MIA

Chapter 1: Day 1 complete

As Mia and Ethan approach the lunch table,  their classmates sight them and sit down with them asking so many questions about what happened. There is indistinct chattering among them.

Chris: [yells to the surprise of everyone].  Enough! One at a time,  OK? [referring to Mia and Ethan]. Is that okay with you two? [Mia and Ethan nod]. Good, now who goes first?  How about you Rosette?

Rosette: Yes please. I just wanted to know,  how did Ethan put you in trouble this time?

Ethan: [Hangs mouth open] What do you mean this time?

Rosette: Yeah I mean like,  he has gotten us in trouble either by messing up the lunch table,  side talking, distracting someone to mention but a few and then,  we end up getting punished.

They all nod in agreement. Ethan looks for something to hide his face. They all laugh except Chris and Mia.  Mia knew her mom won't be happy with her.

Rosette: So how did he get you into trouble?

Mia: Side talking is how Ethan got me in trouble.

All: [laughing at Ethan] 😂😂ha ha ha ha!!!

Ethan: Hey!  Stop it [bell rings]

All: Aww..... 😞,  lunch over already?  Oh well....

Chris: Everyone to class how,  we don't want to be late for the last class.

They hurriedly leave the lunch table but Mia is not in a hurry to leave. She is still wondering what her mom is going to say.

Chris: Mia, is something wrong? If it's about Ethan,  you don't need to worry. Just ignore him the next time he tries to distract you.  I know you are really upset about the fact that you were trying to make a good impression, he just spoils it and trust me,  I don't feel any better but school is not over yet. You still have a chance, what do you say?

Mia: I am going to try again.

Chris: That's the spirit

Mia: [hugs Chris Thanks Chris,  I am lucky to have such a caring classmate. [Releases him from her embrace]. We better hurry, we don't want to be late. Come on!

Chris: [stands still for a minute, then regains himself] Yes,  we shan't be late,  let us go!  [mimicking gentlemen and bows] After you my lady.

Mia: [giggles and plays along]. Why thank you [chuckles].

They enter the class just as they are about to begin their lesson. Mia is relieved that this is the last subject and after it,  she can go home and after Chris' encouragement,  she was ready to give it another try. The lesson was long and tiring but she made it through, the teacher was impressed as Mia answered questions very well and so she gave Mia two gold 🌟 🌟 stars. Mia was so happy 😊 she could hardly wait to get home and show her mom and dad and so if by magic,  the 🔔 bell finally rung.

Miss Cecilia: There's the 🔔 bell, time to go 🏡 home.  You all did well today, especially Mia. A round of 👏 applause for Mia! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏. Bye 👋 everyone,  see you tomorrow. Oh!  And do not forget tomorrow learning won't commence but we will have a little test about what we learnt today and after that, you can go to your various groups, OK?

All: Yes Miss Cecilia

They all leave the classroom while the teacher arranges the classroom before locking up. Mia is so happy but she realizes that she did not understand the science lesson very well and she needed help with that if she was going to pass the test,  she approached Chris.

Mia: Chris, I need talk to you.

Chris: [turns around] just the person I was looking for.  You did great today, you deserved that applause. So what's the problem?

Miami: Yeah, what's the hold up?  You've been wanting to leave and now  you're delaying.

Mia: Zip it Miami!  Anyway,  Chris,  I had trouble understanding what they taught in science class and I was wondering if you could help me?

Chris: Sure anything to help?

Mia: Thank you so much, Chris.

Chris: you know we could form a book club and we could be taking turns to meet at our house during the weekend. We would need some more members

Mia: Are you kidding? That would be great. I mean, sure. [Soliloquising], I can't believe it,  I am going to witness my first social gathering. eeee!!

Chris: [approaches the others and asks] You guys and gals wanna join the 📖 book club? [they all respond affirmative]. Then, it is settled. The first official meeting of 🎺 🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺, CHRIS AND MIA'S BOOK CLUB will hold immediately after school tomorrow at Mia's abode. I mean home (applause)👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏. If that's okay with you,  Mia?

Mia: It is okay with me,  I don't see why not.

Chris: Okay then.  With that settled,  bye everyone. Have a nice day and see you tomorrow.

Once everyone is out of sight, Miami asks..

Miami: Are you sure you want people hanging around your house?

Mia: Why not?

Miami: I'm pretty sure it's why?

Mia: Nope!  It's definitely why not.

Miami: If you say so.

They leave for home.  They arrive and Mia tells her mom and dad everything that happened in school.  She also told them about the book club and they were proud of her.  They all ate dinner and went to sleep.
