Shadows in the Forest (Haikyuu au)

Daichi POV

I heard the door slam and I rushed to see what happened.

I saw Tsukishima sitting against the door, looking pretty worse for wear.

"Tsukishima! What happened?"

"T-there was this, this guy. And he almost killed me!" He sounded hysterical.

Poor guy.

"Ok, Tsukishima. Let's get you something to eat. How about we go lay down on the couch, ok?" I offered. He nodded and I led him to the couch.

Asahi came in with some toast and I asked Tsukishima to tell me what happened.

He told us the whole story of what happened. I was a little skeptical, but I needed my friend to feel better.

"Well, how about this. You stay here with Asahi and I go out and try to find this mystery man. OK?" 

He nodded and laid down on the couch, falling asleep instantly.

"Asahi, could you watch him please? I'll be back soon." He nodded.

I grabbed some snacks, water, and a flashlight.

"If i'm not back by 8 come looking for me, ok?"

"Sure Daichi." And with that I was off.

Even though it was one o'clock in the afternoon, the fog still lingered between the trees.

Tsukishima said he walked a good way, so I decided to do the same.

I had been walking for about half an hour when I started to hear voices. Tsukishima said there was only one man, but I heard the voices of two. I hid behind two trees and decided to listen.

"It's ok Yamaguchi, he's gone now." The voice had an angelic quality to it, I could listen to that voice all day.

"B-but I almost k-killed him." I heard another voice, this must be the guy Tsukishima was talking about.

"Well, if you run into him again, just run. Did you go retrieve your knife?" The first man asked.

"Y-yeah."

"OK good. Now go back to camp. I'll go scout out the area if it makes you feel better."

"Thanks Suga." 

So his name is Suga, has a nice ring to it.

I heard footsteps running away from my location. I decide to get a look at this "Suga".

I peeked from behind the tree's into the clearing. 

Standing there was a man that looked to be about my age. He had short silver hair and a beauty mark below his eye. He was simply dressed and had a quiver of arrows slung over his back.

He was gorgeous. 

He took a step forward and sniffed the air. 

Well, that was weird.

Then, as quick as lightning he pulled an arrow out of his quiver and shot it right at me.

I ducked just in time, and it hit the tree.

"Who are you! Show yourself!" He was staring in my direction.

"Well, how do I know you're not going to shoot me?" I asked calmly. 

The sliver haired man was silent for a moment then answered.

"I won't shoot if you won't."

"Deal." I said. I heard his quiver and bow hit the ground and I came out from behind the tree to face him.

When I came out he took a step back, looking ready to run at any moment.

"Look, i'm not going to hurt you. Here, have this. Consider it a peace offering." I pulled out my pack of  Nutter Butters and threw them to him.

He jumped but caught the cookies none the less. He climbed into a tree to eat them.

"Where are you from stranger." He asked, trying to open the cookies.

"I'm from Japan. My friends and I are on a trip to explore this island."

He gave me a confused look before saying,

"Japan? Never heard of it." He finally got the cookies open and started to eat one. He looked about ready to melt. It was kind of cute.

"What are these?" He asked shoving the rest of the cookies in his mouth.

"They're called 'Nutter Butters'. They're my favorite cookie." I explained.

He nodded and said,

"Well, sir. I need to go. The chief is expecting me." He fell out of the tree and went to retrieve his weapons.

He picked up his quiver and put it over his shoulder.

"One more thing," He said, walking over to me.

"Yeah?" I asked, starting to blush.

"Keep your blonde one away from Yamaguchi." He gave a scary smile and put his hand on my shoulder. 

Scary.

Without another word he ran off into the trees, disappearing without a sound. 

Once he left I blinked a couple times and smiled to myself. There was no denying it, he was cute. There was no way I was leaving this island without seeing him again.

I got back to the cabin and was grinning like an idiot. All to soon Asahi noticed.

"Uh, Daichi? Why are you smiling like that?" He asked hesitantly.

"Tsukishima's not crazy! I saw another person! I even talked to him!"

At those words Tsukishima raced into the room. He ran up to me and said,

"You saw him!?"

"Yes! I heard the boy you were talking about and I met someone new!"

"I told you Asahi!" Tsukishima yelled.

"OK OK I admit defeat. But i'm not going to really believe you until I see one of these people for myself." He crossed his arms.

"Well, that's fair enough I guess. Tsukishima, I want you to tell me everything you can about this boy." I said.

"Ok cool." 

We walked into the kitchen to discuss what we saw. We both sketched out the people we saw and compared them.

Both men were wearing the same clothes, but had very different appearances and weapons.

Asahi still thought we were crazy.

Ok, so I literally have no idea what I think about this chapter. Suga and Daichi's interaction was so weird I hated it.

So I was eating nutter butters while writing this so that's why I included them. :)

So, one more ship interaction and then the real story can start!

*angry and tired screeching*
