Izuku and his mother were eating breakfast when she brought up taking Izuku to the doctor to find out what kind of bender he was. At this, Izuku was ecstatic. He basically inhaled his food so he could get up and get his shoes on. Inko chuckled at her sons' antics and told him to slow down. Her order was in vain. She sighed and shook her head in amusement. Once she finished her food, she, too, got up and put her shoes on. She grabbed her purse and went out of the door with her son, hand in hand.

When they arrived at the hospital, Inko went to sign Izuku in and sat down. She sent Izuku to go play at the little child area they had. He skipped happily toward the play area, just as his mother had instructed. At the play area, a little boy with lilac hair was sitting all alone. Izuku decided to try and make conversation.

Izuku introduced himself with little glory as he stuttered, "h-hi! My name is Izuku Midorya! What's your name?"
The little boy looked around subtly, as if making sure he wasn't talking to someone else. As he realized he was the only other child there, he replied in a somewhat monotone voice, "I'm Hitoshi Shinso. Nice to meet you Izuku."

Izuku smiled at him happily, thankful that he made a new friend. They chatted for a bit, hitoshi opening up a bit more as time passed. Almost too soon, Hitoshis' name was called. He got up and waved a goodbye to Izuku. Izuku waved back, somewhat sad that his friend had to go away. He played with the slider toys that all hospitals seemed to have. It felt like an eternity before his name was called. When it was, he shot up from where he was seated and ran to his mother, who was waiting for him at the door.

You could imagine his surprise when the doctor said that he was an earth bender. His mother equally as surprised when she asked how it could be, when, she was an air bender and her husband was a fire bender. The doctor said that Izuku may have inherited it from a grandparent on either side of the family tree. Inko nodded her head in understanding and smiled down at Izuku.

When they got home, Izukus father was not yet home from work, so Inko decided to start making dinner. She asked izuku what he wanted to eat and of course he replied with an overjoyed katsudon. Halfway through making the meal, hisashi showed up.
"How was your day?" He asked with a smile.

"It was good" inko started, "we went to the doctors today to see what kind of bender izuku is".

Hisashi raised an eyebrow and looked at inko in confusion.

"Well he's obviously a fire bender, like his old man" Inko twiddled her thumbs and looked down, "He is a fire bender, right?" Hisashi questioned inko, taking a step in her direction.

Inko looked at izuku pleadingly, as if to say go to your room please. Izuku took the hint and went upstairs and into his room.

Izuku could hear them talking, then it upscaled into yelling, then he could hear his mothers cries, along with his father still yelling. He decided, as the curious child he is, to investigate. As he crept quietly down the stairs, he could see his mother cowering against the wall of the kitchen with his father standing over her, still shouting at her.
Suddenly, the floorboards creaked under his feet, revealing his presence to his father. Hisashi turned to see izuku and walked towards the boy frozen in fear.

Hisashi grabbed izuku by his black curls and got close to his face. Izuku could feel the heat radiating off of the man and felt his fear bubble up in his chest. In a split second, his eyes felt ad though they were lava, he screamed in agony for what seemed like ages. He didn't notice that his father had dropped him and left the house, or that his mother was next to him, trying to soothe him. All he could feel was the burning sensation in his eyes. It soon became too much and he passed out.

Izuku woke up in a place he didn't recognize at all. It was pitch black and he couldn't even see his hands. He started to hyperventilate, not knowing where he was, or where his mother was. Then, he heard a voice- no, two voices. One of them sounded familiar- it was his mom! But... Why couldn't he see her? He decided to call out for her.

"Mom? Mom, where are you? I can't see you."

"I'm right next to you honey," his mother said to him softly, it sounded like she had been crying.

"Mom, why can't I see you? I remember last night, and then everything went black..."

"Izuku, sweetheart, the nice doctor will explain everything to you, i'll be right next to you the whole time," Inko replied, grabbing Izuku's hand gently.

"Hello izuku," a new voice began speaking to him, izuku guessed that was the doctor, "My name is Dr. Danny, I regret to inform you that your eyes were severely burned, and that you are permanently blind, you also have minor burns around your eyes that will scar slightly."

Izuku was silent, trying to process everything that had been said to him. After a few seconds, he nodded mutely. His mother let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.

Izuku was asked questions by detectives, trying to gain information on their case. He answered them as best he could but was still a little out of it. After a week in the hospital, he got to be signed out of the hospital, given a blindfold, so as to not hurt his eyes.
At first, getting around was a bit of a problem for izuku but as days past, he learned that his earth bending can help him sense the vibrations he makes in the ground and know where to step, the only slight downside to it is that he either has to wear very thin shoes(which are hard to come by) or go barefoot.

As days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months, he started noticing changes within his mom, shortness of voice, a growing temper, a less loving touch. By the time a year had gone by, she had started hitting him, not hard but not light either. When he was six, the mental abuse came. Small insults that would hurt izuku even if only a little bit.

Over the years, izuku has figured out that some of her abuse comes from him looking almost exactly like his father, so he dyed his hair from his natural black hair to his mother's green hair. It seemed to make her a little less annoyed with him, although it didn't fix everything. She would still make comments regarding his looks or weight, and she would still hit him. She just wouldn't be disgusted by his very presence anymore. He had become distant and closed off, bullied at school as well. Still wanting to help people, no matter what. So he could help kids who were going through the same things he is. The UA entrance exams were in about 11 months. He'd best start training.
