'Be with me this coming SONA. I think you know the dress code for that event.'
'You got to be kidding me right?'
'Do I sound funny to you?' His dark eyes gave out nothing but blankness. Ganyan naman talaga siya sa iba. Ha, feeling mo ba same treatment forever? I snapped out of it as he turned his back to me. He started to walk away when he look back.
'Be with me. For once.'
Then he left.
Here I am silently preparing as I watched my glam team do whatever magic they have to do. Everyone is busy around me habang ako gulong-gulo na kakaisip.
'Sinong may piso? Paki abutan nga 'to.' Mitch interrupted my thoughts as he try to fix my hair into a bun.
'I don't need a penny for my thought. Pennies. Those would do since ang daming laman ng utak ko hindi ko na alam kung anong priority kong isipin.' I glared after I said those words. They do not have a single clue on what's running inside my head. I had to go back to some of my memories 10 years ago.
Gusto kong maawa sa sarili ko but I know I deserve nothing because he deserved more from me—at least that time. God knows how long I prayed for this moment but then once a coward, will always be a coward. I smiled at the thought that I got an answered prayer the moment he asked me to be with him in this event. Am I lucky? Let's see.
That was me trying to cheer myself up from all the negativity I was stressing myself about.
I snapped out of my thoughts when Tina told me that it is time to for me to wear my gown. Tinulungan nila ako sa pagsusuot ng damit ko. They were all careful since the piña fabric used in my Maria Clara style outfit is quite fragile as you hold on to it. The beige and black color of the outfit complimented my fair skin. The saya reached exactly the floor as I wore my strapped heals since the gown has a mermaid cut. I feel like I'm a classic person as I stared at myself in front of the mirror.
'Thank you guys. You did a great job' I said to my team since this is a two-hour preparation with them and this look wouldn't be possible without them.
'Anything for the future first lady!' I threw them an are-you-serious-look. Good thing a soft knock followed making them hide their giggles and grimace.
'Miadelle, ready?'
Miadelle huh. The way he pronounce my name is his trademark. It sends shivers and a tingly feeling inside.
Its quite a view seeing him in his black barong Tagalog . His manly scent filled the room even if he's just merely standing at the door. Oh, this man. The rustic gold watch complimented the look plus the way his hair is styled makes him look so honourable as he is always is. His proud posture screams of power, fame and wealth.
'Mia, nag-usap kayo ni Senator na something black ang outfit?' Mapang-asar na tanong nila. I shooked my head and grabbed my clutch.
'I'm good, let's go.' Sabi ko while ignoring their teasing looks. They have no idea what this is. And so do I.
'Saglit, you two should have a photo together, 5 minutes lang.' I looked at him asking for his approval when he nod at me. We took some IG worthy photos and we head out going to the Congress. After an hour of travel we arrived at the entrance, the press flocked and so are the guests. I scoffed at the thought of this event.
I heard the car door open, he waited for me and offered his hand, of course I received it. We walked through the entrance and as I expected gasps were heard from the media men, especially with those I am acquainted with. I smiled at them as we gracefully walk through the red carpet. He even wave like a normal politician. I mentally rolled my eyes with what he did.
'Senator De Liano and Mia Fonacier, what a view!' Toby, a reporter, exclaimed. 'What brings you together?' Yeah, what brings us together here. That is the same question I would like to ask him but it would take some guts to do so.
He smirked at the question.
'For old times sake.'
