(It has been a very long time since I've written anything Naruto-related, so just bear with me. Thank you.)

Travelling at night was supposed to be dangerous, wasn't it? Especially for you, being a female and everything. At least, that was how some people viewed it. Danger around every corner, so they say, especially in uncertain times.

But you were far from stupid.

Darting from alleyway to alleyway, your destination was clear and not all that difficult to find. A kunai was clamped in your teeth as you ran, arms straight behind you as was the usual way.

You had a mission. A dangerous one, but one that needed to be done, apparently.

Mission? Heh. More like assassination.

Having to kill a high-profile shinobi was almost too much to manage; for that matter you weren't even sure who had given you the mission. You worked everywhere; an assassin for hire, so to speak.

And there you were, in Konoha, about to go after your next target.

Shadows loomed overhead as you approached. The night was crystal clear, perfect for killing. You removed the kunai from your mouth carefully as you crept closer, the building in question just ahead of you.

You perched in a tree nearby, watching for any signs of movement. Any sort of life within.

This guy is definitely gonna put up a fight... unless I can get him while he sleeps. That's a possibility. It's pretty late, after all. Doesn't this fucking village have guards? Or is their fucking Hokage too soft to want them?

The window was open, the curtains within fluttering gently in the midnight breeze. It was almost too perfect.

A bug landed on your cheek and you brushed it away carelessly, not thinking. In retrospect, this was your first error, and boy was it a big one.

You crept through the open window and landed silently in a spacious room, presumably the living room. Kunai still in hand you listened carefully, alert to any sounds, however minor. But there were none.

And so you continued to creep through the room, eventually coming across a hallway by the open door.

This guy makes it too easy. Idiot.

Your eyes darted around, searching in the dim light for any sign of the house's inhabitant.

He lives alone, on the opposite side of the village from the gate. Aburame, you really know how to make for an easy target.

But why do they want you killed?

It was a question that you stopped asking a long time ago. If you wanted to get paid, questions were considered a bad thing. All that mattered was that someone had put a price on Shino Aburame's head.

And it was your duty to see that his head was put on a platter, so to speak.

The house was completely still, most of the doors wide open. Target or not, was this guy just really trusting in his surroundings? He had to be! He had left his window open!

Then again he's probably not expecting company...

The bedroom. You could hear soft, steady breathing from within.
