'Fuck' I groaned the moment my alarm started buzzing. I stared at the ceiling, trying to figure out how in hell I could get away from my problems.

Today is another day of me trying to get a job, I was fired from my last one because of 'poor conduct', I mean, it's not exactly my fault for punching the idiot that was hitting on me, he had it coming. Either way, now I'm stuck looking for a job to pay the stupid bills.

I walked into the bathroom, staring at my face through the mirror, trying to find the once happy girl that is obviously now lost, I gave up with a sigh of defeat. After brushing my teeth, I did my facial routine then I hopped into the shower.

Since I was looking for a job, I had to dress up for it, so after my shower, I walked into my closet trying to find the perfect outfit for a job-hunt, I settled with a black high-waisted fitted skirt that went all the way down half an inch below my knees, giving it that professional look and a white sweater crop top and a pair of cream stilettos. I curled my hair and packed it into a ponytail so that it could highlight the light make up I put on, I grabbed my purse and walked out the door.

After stopping at Starbucks to grab my all-time favourite; The Caramel Frappe with extra whipping cream of course, I practically ran out to catch the bus.

Earlier that week, after I lost my job, I checked the Internet and the newspapers for job openings, luckily I found one. It's for the job of an assistant in a company named Alessi Inc., never heard of it before but, oh well.

When I got off the bus, I was done with my coffee, I trashed the cup and walked straight into the building, well here goes nothing.

Around the building were guards that we're probably twice my size, they were all carrying guns.

'I thought this was an oil company, what on earth do you need guns for?'

I shrugged off the feeling that this wasn't going to end too well and made my way into the building.

Up-front, I met the receptionist who glanced up at me for a millisecond then went back to her phone call. I had to wait for her to finish the call, and boy was she taking her time.

I got frustrated and tapped her table with my nails, trying to tell her that I didn't have all day to watch her do her job, while I was trying to get mine. She glared at me for interrupting her precious call but ended up dropping the call.

' Good morning Madam, how may I help you?' she asked with a tight and practised smile.

I smiled a little, trying to ease the growing tension between us before I replied: " I'm actually here for the job interview, the one for the assistant job..." I trailed off, hoping that she could understand what I was saying.

Lucky for me, she did and then she reached into the lower part of her desk, and brought out a clear and sleek black card, handed it over to me and said " When you get to the elevator, place this card into the vacant slot that doesn't have a colour code on it, don't bother about returning the card, it won't come out. You'll meet another receptionist when you get to the designated floor, she'll give you directions on what to do next." That was all she said before picking up the ringing phone to answer a new call.

I walked away leaving her to do what she was hired to do, I waltzed into the elevator, trying to remember all what the receptionist told me to do, When the doors closed, I did exactly as she said while thinking of how much the contraption probably cost the company.

'Damn, these guys are rich as fuck'

When the elevator door opened, I found myself looking at a room, an office that was painted in a warm grey colour. The furniture blended in with the walls and everything looked so expensive, I was afraid to touch anything. The receptionist guided me to a set of comfy looking seats occupied by other people, leaving only one seat vacant, I guess that's mine then. I sat down waiting for my turn.

Around 12 PM, the last of the women came out and left, leaving only me there. the receptionist walked up to me...

"Alzena Romano?"

'Oh shit! That's me, well here goes nothing''
