1. bloodbath

The salty smell of blood marinated in the air, and none of my allies had died yet.

A dark atmosphere clouded my mind, was this really the best idea?

Nao, the only other of the group surviving, probably sensed my pain, and grabbed my clammy hands, desperately trying to soothe me

But it was no help.

Her hand was cold and shaking, a weak grip being the only physical thing that connected us two.

Then the unrelenting slaughter started.

First it was Reko. I watched her die, and it was all my fault.
As her eyes slowly closed, a sudden rush of memories came to me, her helping Kanna, keeping me and everyone else as safe as she could, the motherly energy practically emanating from her lifeless body.
With her last breath- I could almost see her dead brother hold her hand in my mind . . .
REKO EXPIRED

Nao's grip on my hand tightened, as I remember the two girls had a rather sisterly relationship.
I looked up at her face.
She was sobbing.
Why didn't I notice that?

I awkwardly put my arm around her, trying to comfort my only friend.

The next to die was Shin.

He tried to stay alive, trying to curse me and Nao to all hell, but Safalin held him back, his struggling only making his pain worsen.
Although I hated the man, he'd tried his best to survive- which I could commend him for.
SHIN EXPIRED

The deaths became a blur, my tears and Nao's hand being the only thing that felt real to me.

KANNA EXPIRED

I watched as the little girl who was taken to soon died. Just like her sister.

Q-TARO EXPIRED

It took . . . a lot to kill this giant of a man.
What shocked me the most was that the middle schooler, Gin Ibushi tried to save Q-Taro. Gin died in his arms.

GIN EXPIRED

KEIJI EXPIRED

The blonde man looked at me with pure hatred in his eyes.
I'm too numb to know how to react at this point.

A door opened.
Safalin was . . . gone?

"Sara?"
A shakey, yet kind voice tugged me back to reality.
Nao shakily tugged on my hand.

"Don't cry, Sara."
I drearily wiped my eyes, was this really my reality?

"From now on . . . I'll always be with you . . ."
She pulled me into a hug, her arms shaking as she tried to absorb my pain.

"When we get home . . . I'll make you delicious meals . . ."
Her kind words nursed my sore mind, her soft voice soothing me.

"We'll sleep soundly . . . bathe in the morning sun . . . take walks together . . ."
Those of her's words reminded me why I wanted to escape with her.

"Let's live happily for everyone . . ."
I only knew one thing for sure- that was that I wanted to get out of here with Nao. No, I needed to leave with her.

Silence filled the heavy air.

"It's okay . . . I'll bear this cross."
Those words . . . were similar to when she pushed the doll Reko to stop me from being guilty.

"You did nothing wrong Sara . . ."
I can't think anymore.

"You did nothing wrong . . . you did nothing wrong."

"Sara, you did nothing wrong."
