Book One Gold Rush
Chapter One: Voices from the Void.
STOP THIEF!
Were the two words that grew fainter and fainter in my head that the shopkeeper yelled as I ran across the cobblestone pavement.
Dodging the poor sitting on either side of the stacked houses and many hay bales.
I jumped onto the back of a horse carriage onto a ledge on a wooden house, the silk bag of jewels still lay in my cold hands.
I ran across the broken down wooden rooftops of Aimor trying to escape the noise of the public.
I know I'm going to escape, I just don't know when. I've been doing this for years and nobody even knows my name.
My head started hurting with a sharp shock.
Jump!
A second later I'm at the bottom of an alleyway. I open my eyes trying to block out the pain in my back to see the roof I was swiftly running on a moment ago.
I thought to myself, If I jumped I would be fine.
Where is this voice coming from?
I feel the pain again.
They know where you are
You've been spotted
Run!
Without thinking twice I get onto my feet ignoring the pain in my spine. I started running, I looked behind me to find several assassins that didn't seem to be guards, the voice was right!?
I unclipped a dagger from my belt and threw it into one's neck, thrusting his windpipe making him unable to yell. Out of the abyss a cloaked man with a red logo on the hood of his cloak fired an arrow at me that I swifty dodged with shock as I fell into a hay bale.
I'm quick on my feet and with my knives
There are more of them, be ready
There was that voice again, I needed to know what and where that voice was coming from. As another arrow was shot at me, it flew past my left cheek with a WHOOSH. As I grabbed another dagger out of my belt, I threw it at one of the cloaked assassins. It penetrated his forehead, and he fell to the ground in an instant. I felt no mercy, these were bounty hunters, obviously for some syndicate! No surprise, I wonder about the huge bounty on my head. I needed to get these thoughts out of my head! There were still two more, obviously more trained than the others, they had a red ribbon across his left shoulder, and onto their right hip.
You can't fight this!
More are on their way
Leave!
I find a ladder to my left, the bottom covered with many dry hay bales. I jump off the wall throwing another dagger to one of the hunters hip, injuring him badly. I climbed up the ladder back to the roof I was on before.
Go to the Castle
Now!
Again, without thinking I start running across many different stacked house rooftops. I noticed the rooftops change from broken wood to stone, meaning I'm travelling into the richer parts of Aimor.
I grunted as I hit the red carpet of the throne room. I see a tall slender character with a long and hiding cloak. His elf tips slightly poke out.
Elves aren't supposed to be in Aimor, He'll be slaughtered in front of the public. He shouldn't be here, he needs to leave!
