You were aware of the Miss' distance towards everyone here. Emily. She was there in a heartbeat whenever someone was hurt, and she would always stay with said person until they were perfectly okay. She had a big heart, that's for sure, but you noticed her hesitance for everyone. Like she built up a barrier to keep herself away.
Right now she was fixing dinner, nothing major, but enough to keep her moving. You sat on the counter eating snacks. She would always scold you for that, but you've done it so many times now that she gave up and let you have your way. You almost wish she would snatch the food from your hands, as you would always end up full before dinner.
Perhaps she felt she nagged to much, worried to much even. After all, everyone here were still strangers to each other in them. It's not like you were all blood related. So you didn't blame her if she gave up a lost cause. However you enjoyed her constant worry over you, it did make you feel quite important in the moment.
You liked Emily, very much, however it was hard to understand her. She was obliviously a keeper of many secrets, as she refuted to tell anyone at the manor what she used to do. Not only that, but she seemed to be in debt to Emma, as if she had done something bad to be in such a position.
You watched her cook the large meal for all of your friends, silent and modest as always...
"Hey Emily." You asked nonchalantly. She knew you were on the counter, in fact she knew you would often linger around herself. However she got used to your friendly attempts of socializing, and accepted your innocent advances most of the time. "Yes (Y/n)?"
Her voice was always so smooth and comforting. You were sure if she read you a bedtime story every night, you'd have a superb sleep schedule. "Did you want to play games with some of us today?" You knew it was practically futile to invite Emily to any social event, as she would rather read in silence, clean, or fix up the infirmary. Either those, or she was busy taking care of someone.
"Sorry dear, I'd rather be on my own. You know that better than anyone."
Her voice almost sounded disappointed. Disappointed you even asked, knowing what her answer would be. But today you were not having it. You desired to hang out with the Doctor, immensely. You cared for her, and the idea of her being left out twisted your heart violently.
You were silent for a moment, trying to think of a way to be close to her. She did so much for everyone, but she was left in the dark without a second thought. You remember being told she was on of the first ones here, how frightening that must've been. But you only arrived when the manor was jam packed already, so you never had to experience the fear she did.
"I'll stop eating before dinner if you come." You said, a slight whine in your voice. She stopped her actions and turned to you aloof. "Well that's a very big commitment, just so I can hang out with you and the others, are you sure?" She stifled a laugh, in disbelief at your bargain. You were very serious though.
"Ple~ase Emily? I'll help you when people get hurt in matches- I'll even help clean!" You slid off of the counter and slugged over to her, grasping her shawl. "Ple~~ase?" She gave you a nervous look with nervous sounds as well, but kept cooking before you finally had it. Fed up with the constant distancing.
"Emily why are always so far away?"
She seemed to go silent as ever, her body growing still. "Whatever do you mean?" Her voice was defensive, and almost harsh. Did you pry on something? You only wanted to be closer to her...
