The first couple months of their relationship were absolute bliss. Their happiness was measured in the amount of laughter they shared, the little hugs snuck in between classes, and in the sweet words exchanged between them. There were intertwined hands and brief kisses on the college campus, while the nights were spent together, limbs tangled and cravings fulfilled. They had everything they desired; adoration, contact, comfort, devotion, peace. They had unending true love.
It took wooyoung weeks to gather the guts to place the cassette in san's locker. He had been crushing on the boy since the beginning of the semester and claimed, rather dramatically, that he was the most beautiful creature he had ever laid eyes on.
wooyoung had persuaded one of san's friends to give him the combination to the ladders locker in exchange for a few favors. He went to the locker before class and placed the cassette tape with his confession recorded on it in the locker. Along with it went a small cassette player with a pair of clean headphones attached, and instructions on how to use it properly. wooyoung realized it would come across as cheesy, but he was a hopeless romantic, he couldn't help it. Besides, if he tried to confess his feelings in person, he would be a stuttering mess.
The next day, san approached wooyoung and confidently asked him out on a date. The words had barely left san's mouth when wooyoung screeched a happy yes. As the months dragged on, the two got to know each other and their interests. wooyoung was an arts major and was specializing in drawing and painting. His goal since he was a child was to have his paintings up in a giant museum somewhere. On the contrary, san was majoring in business and marketing, hoping to start his own corporation one day. wooyoung was a open-minded, free-spirited soul, who was always smiling and laughing with everyone. However, san was the quite type, reserved and composed, making the two an unlikely pair. Nobody thought they would stay together long because of their differences, but wooyoung and san loved proving everyone wrong.
A couple months before their graduation, san got down on one knee and proposed to wooyoung, promising to keep him healthy and happy for as long as they lived. They waited 7 months after graduating to solidify their relationship legally and vowed to love each other till death do them apart.
After marrying, they got a small and rigidity apartment in the the city. san landed a job in a company and wooyoung spent his days at home, painting and sketching whatever came to mind; however, he didn't get very far. The sirens and the constant noise provided by the busy city streets made the headaches he had into something worse. san seemed to function in the city, but not wooyoung. san would promise he would buy wooyoung a bigger house somewhere there was peace and quite to suit his needs. wooyoung would smile into his shoulder and thank him.
Neither of them were particularly fond of their apartment, but they didn't mind it. wooyoung's kisses and his love made it into a home; a home san looked forward to coming back to after a long and excruciating day at work. They would hold each other at night and bask in warmth, whispering about their day and their worries; they would spend the night with tangled limbs and feel complete. No matter how tried they got, they would find their way back to each other. wooyoung was an oasis of serenity in san's hectic and tiring life.
Because of his sheer tenacity and charming personality, san climbed up the company ladder quickly. As his position grew, so did the amount of money he had.
One day, he gently took wooyoung's hand in his and put his laptop aside on the coffee table.
"woo, remember the house I've been promising to buy you since the very beginning? Well, I can finally fulfill that promise." Shaky arms looped themselves around san's neck as he was pulled into a hug by his now crying husband. They spent the rest of the night entangled with each other, becoming one.
The house was in a spaced out and rich neighborhood, fulfilling the needs of the couple. The estate was modern and moderately big, just barely crossing into what would be considered the countryside. The main reason to move was to provide wooyoung with what he needed: tranquility and space. The house was perfect.
