Gyorgy's POV
Parker had instructed me to go a nearby gas station, and after paying for a full tank of fuel, he'd decided to drive the rest of the way to one of the luxury hotels that Damien's uncle Keith owned.
Upon arriving, Parker gave a valet my car keys and led me inside the large, expensive building. As soon as we stepped in, I felt this heavy sense of shame—like I shouldn't have entered the building in the first place because I knew more than well that I couldn't afford it. "Park, this place is too expensive. I-I don't want to stay here. I'll rent a room at Hotel 8. I saw one just a few miles back," I whispered as he ushered me to the front desk.
"Nonsense," he said plainly before he peered over the counter and looked at the front desk lady's computer.
"Excu— Oh, Parker! I didn't recognize you. You've gotten so much bigger," she chuckled as she looked up from her phone and over the sixteen-year-old's body. Torso rather, since that was all she could really see without her desk blocking her view. "It's been a while. How old are you now? Eighteen?"
"Sixteen," he mumbled quietly, his deep, profound voice echoing a bit around the main lobby. "Uh, Miss Ivy, I asked Kennan to order these VIP rooms. Did he do that?"
"He sure did," the desk lady beamed. "Here are some extra keys. Have a good stay, dear."
"With a woman as beautiful as yourself sitting here to greet me every time I come by, how could I not enjoy my stay?" Parker said kindly, making Miss Ivy giggle and blush lightly along her cheeks.
"Gyorgy, let's go," the teenager then said not-so kindly to me. I frowned and hugged myself as I slowly trudged behind him, feeling as out of place as a winter coat in the middle of June. In Arizona. "Hurry up. I want to take a nap," he growled as he stepped into an elevator.
"U-uh... You know, I think I'll take the stairs," I murmured.
"Oh, don't tell me...you're afraid of elevators?"
"I'm not afraid of elevators. I'm afraid of the dangers that come with riding them. People get trapped in them for hours, Parker. Plus, I have claustrophobia," I confessed.
"Fine. Whatever... You know, I always believed that the whole "the best way to face your fears and problems is head on" saying was false," the teenager said with a short scoff as he stepped out of the metal box.
"Yeah..." I mumbled, turning away from it, hoping that he would lead me to some stairs. But to my great surprise, Parker had gripped my wrist and yanked me into the elevator with him. And before I could escape or open my mouth to complain, the doors were shut and the metal death trap had started moving, immediately shutting me up and sending me into a panic.
I trembled like a wet puppy in the middle of a blizzard as I clenched the metal bar, and remained shaking in horror until Parker dragged me out of the motorized coffin, and over to the same six bodyguards that followed us throughout our shopping trip.
"Hans. Ralph. Ulyssa, gorgeous," the teenager started, ushering me closer to the guards. "Would you three mind helping Gyorgy around a bit, please. I need to talk to Kennan for a short while. Ayastari, John, can you both buy some gift wrap, tissue paper, and bows?"
"Yes, sir," everyone replied before parting ways. Although I already felt nauseous from the elevator, something about the blonde guard burning red and stuttering in front of Parker made my stomach turn. Attempting to figure him out, I glared at him as he followed my little buddy into one of the VIP suites, but found no kind of answer by the time they'd closed themselves in the room.
