Marielle looked pale like always, but this time she was slightly too pale. Her skin was clammy and feverish, as it had been all week. Though she knew to push through it, today was the day of the competition. She needs to win.

"Marielle, focus, you're dancing like a drunk elephant," Eva, her trainer, corrected. This wasn't necessarily true, Marielle had been dancing well, but her movement was shaky and inconsistent. " Your jumps should be higher, breathe through the movement." she berated the girl, reminding her that her parents would be watching.

Marielle's parents were strange, they expected nothing less than perfection, and though they were rarely present for her dances they always had an idea of how it went because they always chide her after. The reminder from Eva about her parents pushed her to run the routine one more time before going backstage even though it left her light-headed and seeing dots.

Once backstage, she continued to her jumps even though it was making her dizzy. She felt as though stopping for a second would make her less warm, and she wanted to make her family proud. Soon it was her turn to perform

She walked off-stage trying to act as serene as possible, but once she was out of sight she limped to a trash can and vomited up putrid stomach acid. She avoids eating before competing, to avoid feeling bloated. At first, it was something her trainer made her do, but due to her fear of disappointing people, she doesn't eat on the day of the competition at all to ensure she can dance perfectly. Even though she is aware it doesn't actually make a difference, and dancing without food is probably worse, it was drilled into her head so much that she can't stand the thought of eating before a competition.

She heard a door open, she is not sure from where and if she was honest she didn't know where she was. Marielle didn't care where it was as long as it was secluded. She felt hands on her shoulders as she was pulled away from the trash by Eva, who else would touch her sickly self, and pushed into a chair in front of the vanity.

" Come on, let's get you ready for your parents," Eva soothingly encouraged while rubbing Marielle's shoulders. She nodded wordlessly and let Eva rub her sweat away before getting up to change into the clothes Eva gave her.

The outfit may have seemed a bit formal, but Eva raised her she knew what she was doing

The outfit may have seemed a bit formal, but Eva raised her she knew what she was doing. Marielle assumed she was going somewhere fancy after the competition, or she had some meeting or audition soon. Nonetheless, it was a good thing she felt slightly better after puking everything in her system out. Marielle still had a bit of time to rest before awards, so she relaxed into the chair, hoping for some quick rest.

&-&-&-&-&-&

Marielle was sitting onstage, pretending she wasn't worried, even though she knew that anything less than a perfect three-hundred was going to offend her parents. So she secretly tapped her finger on the floor, waiting for the announcer to reach the solo category.

It was time she was going to find out if she did well, the announcer was at the overall solos. He had already named the 5-10 placements, but Marielle was happy she wasn't called. A silver was better than fifth overall to her parents, of course, she didn't get silver she wasn't training 7 days a week for a silver or 5th place she was training for first.

" And in first place with a score of 298 is Marielle Colette Roux with her performance of Effervescent"

Even though it wasn't the perfect score the parents were hoping for, they didn't have time to complain since she had an audition to head to.
