First Day After Summer

Jack's POV

"Jack, Jack, JACK" I heard my mom yelling.

"Yeah, mom" I replied half asleep.

"Wake up or you will be late for school"

"Coming mom"I answered back.

Today was our first day at school after summer vacation. Normally our family goes to our farmhouse to spend the summer. This time we stayed back in the city since my father had some important work to do at his office.I was also given a lot of homework(Man they were exhausting)

I was very excited to go back to school as I wanted to meet all my friends again. Most of my friends live on the other side of the city, so we couldn't meet during the summer.I missed all my friends-Leo ,Katie, Selena, Harry, Dan and of course my best friend Anna. Anna is the only one who lives near our apartment.Usually, we used to see each other during the summer vacation but this time it was different. She rarely called me and we didn't even meet this time around.I wonder why.........

I got up from bed,brushed my teeth and showered. After getting out from the shower ,I wiped dry myself and combed my hair. I slipped myself into a blue T-shirt and black jeans and came downstairs. My mother had made my favorite food-sandwiches and I devoured them quickly.I quickly kissed on her cheek and waved goodbye. I stepped outside our house and made my way to school.

I was waiting for the bus that goes to my school. Anna also takes the same bus and I was waiting for her. I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder and turned around.There she was, my best friend Anna,I didn't see her for the whole summer and I suddenly felt a tug in my stomach.I missed her. I quickly pushed that thought aside and stared at her beautiful blue eyes. She smiled and I realized that I was staring at her for a while.My cheeks blushed and looked away.

"Hi,good to see you" I smirked and wanted to start a conversation.

"Yeah good to see you too, Jack" She replied and we stepped on the bus.

"So how have you been, and why didn't you contact me during the summer?" We sat down together. She sighed and replied

"Look I was sorry that I didn't contact you and yeah I am fine" She replied quietly.

"Would you care to elaborate about why you didn't contact me" I smiled and I saw that she was smiling too.

"See Jack,I had some fights with my mum and I was also busy with my studies" She said sadly.

Ok, I know she has fought with her mother and her father only comes home on Saturday and Sunday.So her mother dominates her for the whole week and acts innocent when her father is home.Since we had discussed this stuff before,I didn't ask her about it.

"Hey, I am sorry to hear about it, "I said sadly "So you excited to meet Leo and the others"I said quickly to change the subject.

"Yeah,I haven't heard from them for a while" She replied.

I nodded and we sat silently for the rest of the ride.

We reached school and went to our lockers.We have adjacent lockers and in fact, our first meeting's credit goes to our lockers.(It is a long story.....)

"So what are your classes for today?" I asked her.

"Umm lets see Biology,Maths, Arts,Physics and uhh Chemistry.I hate that subject"She said smiling, "What have you got?"She asked me.

"English,archaeology,Arts,History and Geology "I replied, "See you at the canteen" I waved her goodbye and we went to our respective classes.

I went to our English class and immediately saw Leo.Man its good to see my friends again.

"Leo" I screamed and he heard me.

"Aye Mr. Smith has finally shown himself " He comes towards me laughing and fist bumps me. I also start laughing too.

We sat down and our English teacher Mr.Jones finally comes in.

"Everybody please sit down on your seats"He yells over the voice of the class.

Everybody sits down he says in a bit lower voice.

"Class today we are gonna study about Greek mythology"

I am gonna be honest and say that there is nothing more boring than greek mythology.Apparently my whole class felt the same.

"Nooo" Everybody yelled.

"If you don't behave yourself then you all will get detention"He snapped back.

This time the class became silent.

"Well now lets start,shall we?"He asked and we all nodded.

If it wasn't for Leo ,I would have died of boredness.He told me how he spend his summer .He also told me a secret.

"Really"I almost screamed.

"Yeah I had a thing for Katie,I asked her out this summer and she agreed." He replied in a whisper. "And now we are dating."I almost shouted Oh my god but I restrained myself.

"Good for you buddy" I said smiling.I saw Katie on the other side of the class with Selena and she was seeing Leo with the corner of her eye.

Well our English class ended and luckily we didn't die.Next I had Archaeology.My favourite subject.I always wanted to be an archeologist when I grew up. Apparently, among my friends only I had taken this subject. But I didn't care because I loved this subject. Mr. Williams taught this subject and also he became my favorite teacher afterward.

The bell rang and it was time for lunch. All the students were going towards the canteen.I remembered how all my friends would sit around each other and laugh and joke while we eat. I got to the canteen and started to find Anna.Apparently she found me.

"Jack" She screamed so that I could hear her over all the noises of the canteen. I saw towards the sound and saw a blonde ,blue-eyed girl, Anna. Then I saw another guy sit next to her holding her hand with his.

My heart sank.
