the days went by as tsukishima and you had not talked. the two of you stopped meeting up during breaks, stopped texting, and stopped meeting at the park at night.

your mood had dropped below the ground, as if you had lost a half of you. classes were passing by slower than usual, and you knew something was up because you were actually paying attention in class.

after a few more days, the person who was visiting you during your breaks was either sugawara, hinata, or yamaguchi.

"hey y/n!" sugawara said, pulling a chair next to you and setting down a juice box next to you. you looked up, then quietly took a sip of your juice.

"are you still feeling sad?" sugawara asked, tracing shapes on your desk. you nodded without saying a word. sugawara then looked at your notebooks, noticing there were no doodles or scribbles, but it was organized and clean. he then realized something really was wrong.

"are you going to skip practice again?" sugawara asked, looking back up at you. you nodded, putting down your empty juice box.

"okay, i'll tell them you're not feeling well. see you after school." sugawara said, patting you on the head, taking the empty juice box, and putting back the chair he pulled over. he left, closing the door behind him.

sugawara had got to practice as you walked home by yourself.

"hey, where is y/n?" hinata asked, approaching sugawara.

"oh, she's not feeling well so she went home." sugawara lied, smiling and rubbing the back of his head. hinata frowned, then walked back over to the net on the court.

sugawara watched as everyone made their way into the gym, including tsukishima. he sighed, trying to decide on what to do about you.

as practice came to an end, everyone cleaned up as sugawara kept a close eye on when tsukishima was done and getting ready to leave.

as tsukishima and yamaguchi both left the gym, sugawara hurriedly rushed to tsukishima's side.

"wait! tsukishima, can i talk to you for a bit." sugawara asked, stopping in front of him. tsukishima didn't answer for a second.

"just talk to him, i can go by myself! maybe you take off your headphones." yamaguchi said, walking off. tsukishima nodded to talk with sugawara, but kept his headphones on.

"what's up with you and y/n?" sugawara asked, getting straight to the point. tsukishima was not expecting this type of question, his eyes widened.

"i don't know." tsukishima shrugged, not knowing what to say.

"you know she really likes you, a lot. she's so hurt and sad right now. you've studied with her, right? she's not acting normal anymore. do you know how much she cares about you, and genuinely loves you? can't you admit that you somewhat feel the same way? don't you? you guys didn't hang out all the time just for you to say you don't even feel anything." sugawara let out, not knowing how to sugarcoat it.

tsukishima had stood there shocked and not knowing what to say. he had never wanted to let out how he had felt, just so that he could protect his own self. but tsukishima knew that he had to at this time.

"i do, i promise i do." tsukishima muttered, almost as if he was confirming it to himself.

"then please, do something with how you feel to help y/n." sugawara finished, walking off to head home.

turns out, in tsukishima's headphones it played their song, mr. loverman.
