I told the universe

About you tonight,

I whispered

Your name to the stars,

And told them how my heart

Flutters and takes flight,

As I sat there for hours

And cried.

I told the moon about how your smile is like the waxing crescent, and how it always comes out after a moonless night. To the night breeze, soft, carrying the sounds of the night, I said that nothing and no one can compare it, to the soft and steady sounds of your breathing, and the quiet sounds you make without noticing.

I told the universe about your laugh, and how contagious it is, that it echoes throughout the universe, as every atom and particle tries to mimic its vibrations, but never, ever come close, how that laugh of yours is like a siren, inviting those who hear it to join in, even if it is not heartfelt.

I told the stars about how they reside in your eyes when you look at her, how they flicker when you remember her, and how the clouds float around your head when you think about her, like cotton candy skies and rainbows at dawn. I told them, that the freckles on your nose, as light as distant stars from another universe, form constellations and maps to the craters and crevices of my heart.
