A/N: This was a collaboration between me and

Jorgen's POV:

My mom gave me one last odd look before I closed the door, "Uh, are you sure that you want to wear that?" Truth is, I wasn't, but Arturo hadn't given me any other choice. He had insisted that him, Kimmalyn, FM and I should dress up as teletubbies. I got odder looks in the lift up to Alta base. A pilot- son of a first citizen and NAL at that- wearing a huge yellow costume. With an antenna, as if things weren't bad enough already.

I was beyond glad to slip into the function room at 1900. At least until I closed the door behind me. "Saints and stars!" Arturo came over to me in the same bulky costume I was wearing, only green, "If only I could have seen this image of you when I met you!" I sighed, looking over his shoulder at the party. Kimmalyn was the purple teletubby and FM was the red one. It was strange seeing the usually prim and proper FM wearing an enormous red costume... Both of them seemed to find me highly amusing as they came over. "What?" I demanded, "you're wearing the same thing!" "Yes, but-" FM broke off laughing. "It's, well..." Kimmalyn said, "You. In a Laa-Laa costume" she too bit her lip to stifle laughter. "A- you didn't tell me it was called that." I said, annoyed. Couldn't Arturo have at least warned me? Over the loud music, it was hard to hear Kimmalyn's reply. "Sorry?" I asked, blinking hard. Scudding purple party lights. "Um, anybody seen Sadie's costume?" She said, louder. I searched the room, eyes briefly falling over Catnip, dressed as... catnip. T-Stall stood next to him in a fluffy cat costume.

Sadie wore a familiar crisp white shirt with badges and pins attached to the front, one of which said "Admiral Ironsides" in fancy lettering. Practically falling over from laughter, Arturo motioned across the room to where Ironsides herself was standing grumpily, staring at Sadie. Before I could react, my face decided that it wanted to give the floor a high-five and I tripped over the substantial feet of my costume. As I tried to get up, I slipped again. "Scudding bulky costume." I muttered as I scrambled clumsily to my feet.

"Hey Spin." Arturo said surprised, "Well, I never thought I'd see you in a dress." Spensa walked up, wearing a long frilly white dress with a short train and her hair twisted up into a neat bun. "I must say, dear..." Kimmalyn commented with raised eyebrows, "That's a pretty realistic wedding dress you're wearing..." "That's because it is real!" Spensa laughed. The obnoxiously loud rock blaring from the speakers changed all of the sudden to soft orchestral music.

Nedd came over in a tuxedo. A scudding tuxedo. Nedd. "Surprise!" He grinned, taking Spensa's arm, "We're getting married!"

What-

The-

Scud...?

"You're what?!" Arturo yelped. Kimmalyn and FM just stared at Spensa blankly as if she was speaking another language. In a way, I felt like she was too. "The costume party was a joke! It's actually a wedding." Spensa laughed.

I... didn't know what to say. Nedd was my friend and all, and I should have been happy for him, but... when I was very, very honest with myself, I'd admit, I liked Spensa.

"Uh, why are you guys dressed as fruit?" Nedd asked."Teletubbies," FM corrected. "Well bless your stars, both of you, who would have known!" Kimmalyn said cheerfully. "I... didn't even know you guys were dating." I forced out, feigning a pleasantly surprised tone as Kimmalyn eyed me knowingly. Spensa grinned.

The other guests seemed confused as to why the music had changed and the lighting had become soft and bright. Leaving us gaping, Spensa and Nedd took off backstage. I now realised that a battered looking red carpet had been laid out down the middle of the stage. Cobb suddenly walked out from the backstage area, also wearing a tux. He carried a microphone and positioned himself in the center, "Ladies and gentlemen and whatever the scud else you may be, listen up. We are gathered here today to celebrate, not just a costume party, but the uniting of two very stupid souls who never think before they act. Without any further ado - because I just want to get to the buffet - will the bride and groom get the scud up here." Cobb finished, making my heart lurch.
