As the bell rang indicating the end of the day, you felt relieved. But then you had an unfortunate memory that popped into your head that you promised your Dad that you would try out for the cricket team.
You already had some sport clothes packed from P.E, so you just decided to get it over with and make your Dad happy.
------
You made your way over to the oval where you saw a whole bunch of other girls around your age gathered together. You saw a bunch of cricket equipment lying on the floor as well, so you just assumed you were in the right spot.
After the coach gave a quick introduction, you and the other two dozen girls went for a jog to warm up. You stayed at the back of the pack trying it keep low-key for yourself, and whilst you were running, you observed the sports oval around you: there was cheer leading practise going on, a committee meeting about to start in the club house, a boy and a girl standing underneath a tree talking, which made you smile.
But the thing that caught your eye the most, was a bunch of boys walking to the coach's direction, with cricket bags.
And then you saw them: Noah, Paddy and Noah also walking over with them.
-----
The girls and you gathered around the coach again withe guys.
"So, unlike the last couple of years, the under 15s boys cricket team is going to help us with the try outs," The Coach explained.
You could here a few groans, "oh no's" or "yays" within the girls, but you just couldn't stop thinking how bad your luck has been today. So what? You met a cut guy and his friends are really nice, which is nice for a change, but you're still in London not Perth, and you're currently trying out for a team sport which you REALLY don't want to do.
"We are going to get straight into it this year, so you two girls can start batting first and can I have half of the boys out on the field," your coach instructed.
You tried to keep your distance from Ollie as you walked away to go sit down, but you could feel burning eyes on you and before you knew it, you saw him sit down next to along with King and Paddy.
"You didn't say you played cricket?" Ollie asks forwardly.
"Oh, I-I use to play back home, but my Dad's forcing me to try out. He thinks I might actually make some friends this way," you said as you chuckled to yourself while finishing the sentence.
"You any good?" King asks.
"heh, probably not."
You notice Paddy staring at the grass and pick at it. He was being awfully quiet and you didn't quite understand why.
Does he not like you?
Does he think you are boring?
Is he just normally a quiet and shy person?
Are you not good eno-
"Y/N, you're up", your coach yelled out.
"Break a leg" Ollie said, as you got up.
While you were putting your gear on, you looked back and saw Paddy involved into the conversation now that you had left. You walked onto the field a little hurt, knowing that you met some welcoming and great people, but one person doesn't accept you.
-----
After the try outs you didn't bother saying bye to Ollie and his friends, you just started walking home, straight away.
