Chapter 35

Cia was looking at me, her face masked with confusion. She looked at Alvin who was quietly enjoying his slice of apple. While I just stood there, contemplating if I should call a nurse or talk to Cia first.

"Why exactly are you here?" asked Cia, still lying on the bed.

I pointed my fingers to Alvin who was sitting in a chair just beside her bed. "He called me," I replied.

She now looked at her son. "You called him?" she asked. Alvin quickly nodded. "Why him?"

"I called the first number on your call history, Mom," he replied, to which made Cia avert her gaze on me.

So... I conclude I was on the first spot.

I'm not even surprised.

She calls me for like twenty times a day. That really explains it.

"I'll just go and call a nurse," I said before quickly walking towards the door.

For a second, I thought of going home already. So in the end, I decided to just stay outside her room for tonight.

"Why are you sleeping here? May sofa naman sa loob, pwede ka naman dun," she said.

I quickly shook my head in disapproval. "Nah, I'm fine here," I replied.

"Mas comfortable sa loob."

"Hindi na... okay lang talaga." I showed off a smile.

"Come on, Gab. I insist. Pasalamat ko na rin 'yun sa 'yo dahil tinulungan mo si Alvin na dalhin ako dito," she responded, smiling a bit.

I exhaled a sigh before slowly standing up.

"Gab."

"Hmm?" I replied, eyes were on the TV.

"What did Alvin tell you while I was asleep?" Cia asked, which made me look at her.

"He just told me his father was left in London."

Cia arched her brow. Seemed like she was expecting me to say more. "That was it?" she asked.

"H-He told me he was adopted," I said, barely audibly.

Cia exhaled a sigh before walking towards Alvin who was in the bed. She combed his hair with her fingers and was solely looking down to Alvin. "He is a good boy," said Cia.

"Yeah... He is wise at a young age." Our conversation was quickly cut off when we heard the news on the TV. I diverted my attention to it and listened carefully.
