in the land of people republic of china, far away in the suburbs, there's a tiny kingdom called handong, ruled by the merciless king dong and his soft-hearted wife, queen zhua. they've been married for fifty years and are given two precious sons — the matured shuzu and the bratty sicheng – and a beautiful daughter, shuhua.

the people of handong lived in fear of their own king. he had been hot-tempered and unfriendly, plus given his scandalous love affairs, people have doubted his qualifications to rule – thus the kingdom has been pretty chaotic for the past months. especially when their neighbour, ghaozo – a bigger and a well-influenced kingdom – started to attack them. thousands of innocent people are dying and starving because of the civil war and handong is slowly falling into a crisis if they don't do something about it.

the royal family, including sicheng who never cared about his own kingdom, are currently in a meeting to discuss about the issue. king dong is very unpleasant to find out the army of ghaozo had succeeded in invading the southern part of handong, and he has been throwing a fit for thirty minutes straight. no one dared to speak up against him. well, except for sicheng, he simply doesn't care.

" this is gibberish !" he shrieks, slamming both of his fists onto the wooden table. " ghaozo is our ally, why would they attack us out of all sudden ?"

" actually ," prince shuzu butts in, being the brain of the family. " they are no longer our allies since we rejected their proposal of taking shuhua's hand in marriage. in order to stop the war, we may have no other options than to accept ."

" but she's seventeen ." the queen retorts, putting her hand on her daughter's.

" seventeen is a marriageable age ."

" I'm not getting married with the prince of ghaozo, gege. he killed our people ." shuhua says, stern and firm.

" but if we don't do something, our people will keep suffering ."

" that's why I called all of you today. I can't trust the corrupted politicians since they keep brainwashing me to marry shuhua off to the ghaozo's prince. I need us to think of something ." the king says, finally calming down.

" us? you're finally thinking of us ?" sicheng snorts. all eyes were immediately on him since this is the first time he spoke in the meeting. " funny, you weren't thinking of us when you married your concubine ."

" sicheng ." shuzu nudges his younger brother and sicheng only shrugs in response.

queen zhua keeps her eyes on the floor. what he said was inappropriate, but no one could argue with it because he was right. king dong had married his concubine last month and the people lost their minds when they found out about it, but he couldn't care less.

this, along with his other ninety-nine weaknesses, led to handong's fall. well, at least in sicheng's eyes. he never liked his own father for obvious reasons. that's why he chose not to care about the kingdom. if it's going down, then so be it.
