It was half past five in the morning, on a Sunday. Sundays were always very calm at Briar's house, since they're the days everyone rests. Her parents usually slept late, and so did her younger sister. The Nolet's loved Sundays - it was the only day they didn't work, nor go to school or dance. Usually they would just have family over for lunch, or go out on a road trip.
Briar was laying on her stomach, and half her blanket was on the floor - she was the kind of person that tossed and turned a lot when sleeping, and it was rare the time her blanket didn't fall off the bed. She would wake up in the middle of the night cold, almost freezing, and in those moments, she wished she could have Myles' warm body around her the most...
Myles.
The only word that would drive her crazy. The only word that would immediately give her chills down her spine, thousands of goosebumps, and, of course, butterflies on her stomach.
Her day could be going awfully. She could have an endless amount of sadness inside her pure heart.. however when Myles was around, everything would just vanish. Into the air, just like dust. The bad was turned into good. And sadness would be replaced by happiness. Pure happiness.
All of a sudden, Briar was woken up by the sound of something hitting her window. Almost immediately, she stood up and ran to her window, only to be faced by her boyfriend. Thankfully, her bedroom was downstairs, therefore it was extremely easy to jump out of the window. Sometimes, she would sneak out, whereas other times, he would sneak in and sleep with her.
Usually Myles would show up early in the morning - around six or seven - however he'd also, from time to time, show up at 1AM, and the both of them would run away together until sunrise, enjoying each other's company throughout the whole night as their actions were controlled by their impulses. And each one of those 'run aways' was a whole adventure.
Briar smiled immediately at the sight of her favourite person.
"Want to go for a drive?" Myles whispered.
"There's nothing I want more... But I need to put something else on though, I don't want to walk around looking like this." Briar explained.
"Looking like what? Beautiful?"
Briar giggled, playfully rolling her eyes "You know what I mean"
"I'll be here waiting"
It didn't take more than five minutes for Briar to change into a comfortable outfit - a pair of leggings and a t-shirt. Anything worked anyways, all she wanted was to be with Myles.
Myles helped her pass through the window, since she could trip and fall or hurt herself. As soon as Briar's feet landed on the ground, the both of them did not take long to join their lips together. In that moment, both of their hearts started pounding out of passion. That was the only reason the both of them survived in that city, among those people. Being with each other was the only thing that kept them happy and sane. Alive.
Briar closed her window carefully, just so she wouldn't wake anyone up.
She turned around to be met by Myles' hand, suggesting for them to leave.
Leave.
The word leave sounded so refreshing to them. It was practically a synonym of freedom. And freedom was something that lacked so bad in their lives.
Myles' car was a gift from his father on his sixteenth birthday... and despite them barely having any money, his father wanted to give it to him more than anything.
