Boston
The day had finally arrived that Hope could get rid of Zack's parents and not have to see them for at least another six months.
Whilst Zack ran them to the airport she had plenty of time to sit back and do absolutely nothing, James was on school break and so she sat beside him on the couch whilst he played his new video game.
She wished her present from her future in laws had been something half as fun as his video game but instead all she received was a new cutlery set and a lecture on why they should get a new grandchild.
Hope shut her eyes in the hopes of getting a small nap in before Zack returned and forced them to go to the park or something but just as she began to fall asleep there was a knock at the door.
She threw on her cardigan she had managed to swipe from her mum before she faked her death and ran to the front door the sound of her feet padding along the floor driving her son insane as she did so.
She opened the front door and nearly died of a heart attack when she saw who was stood behind it
"Mummy? Daddy?" She asked not quite believing they were stood in front of her
"Hey ducky!" Emma smiled through her tears before they pulled Hope into their arms
"What...how...?" She sniffed shaking her head at them
"Someone saw you on a trip to this world took some photos and sent them to the news, next thing we know we're on our way here to find you!" Emma smiled
"Daddy? Are you ok?" She asked
"Aye lass, I just thought I'd never see you again!" He smiled
"Come in, there's someone I want you to meet!" She smiled
Hope took her parents into her apartment and Emma couldn't get over how much it looked like the apartment Henry found her in all those years ago. Come to think of it this was the building she had lived in, how strange that her daughter had wound up hiding here.
That's when she saw the ring around her neck and realised it was the very same necklace Killian had given to her before handing her over to Dalton. She then noticed the ring around her finger and realised that was an engagement ring not her wedding ring.
Before she could ask Hope any questions she noticed a little boy sprawled out over the couch with a computer controller in one hand and a cup of cocoa in the other.
"James!" Hope smiled pulling the headset away from his ears
"One minute mom! I just need to beat this level then I'll clean my room!" He smiled his eyes not leaving the screen once
"You've obviously got that one down!" Emma smiled, her voice was the only reason James' eyes managed to peel themselves away from the screen.
He looked straight at Emma and tried to take in these two strangers that were now stood in his front room staring at him like they'd seen a ghost or something.
Emma was shocked to see the little boy make eye contact with her but she was so happy he did. He was the perfect blend of Hope and Dalton, he had inherited his mothers green eyes but his fathers mousy brown hair and tanned skin tone he had somehow managed to inherit Henry and Hopes nose whilst also managing to sound like a male version of his aunt Darling.
"Mom? Who are these people?" He whispered in a shout obviously trying to be comedic (a habit he must have inherited from his grandfather)
"Oh yeah! James, these are your grandparents!" She smiled
"Which ones? The ones that want you dead?Because if you let them in then mom your literally asking to be killed!" He sassed throwing himself further into the couch
"James Dalton Jones! You will stand up and talk to my parents and you will drop the attitude whilst your at it or so help me you know who will come for you!" She scolded and her parents looked rather impressed, they always knew she'd make a good parent from the moment they saw her with Daniel and then with her crew.
"Sorry," James smiled "uh so hi!" He waved awkwardly as he blew his hair out of his eyes
"Zack told you to gel it back!" She teased and just then the front door opened "Speak of the devil!"
Zack made his way in through the door kicking of his shoes and hanging up his coat at the same time before heading for the front room where he noticed two extra people he had never seen before.
His eyes flicked over them cautiously but he knew Hope wasn't stupid, she wouldn't let just anyone in of the street especially with James in the apartment.
So who the hell were they? What did they want? Just as he was about to ask who these people were Hope introduced them to him and his jaw almost dropped when she told them they were her parents, only then did it click. Hope looked exactly like the man minus her eyes which were a perfect match to the woman's.
He couldn't believe that Hopes parents were sat in their apartment, a week ago he had no idea who they were or even if she had any but now they were sat in front of him.
"So... your Hopes parents?" He smiled
"Aye, that we are lad!" Killian smiled his eyes washing over his daughters new fiancé his hair was jet black and gelled back, his skin was absolutely flawless, his eyes a deep brown and his smile was absolutely blinding.
"I'm so pleased to meet you! I'm Zack, Hopes fiancé!" He smiled
"I'm Emma and this is Killian!"
"It's so lovely to meet you, although I imagine you'd like to spend some time with your daughter and grandson so I'll make myself scarce for a few hours!" He smiled
"How much does he know?" Emma asked Hope
"He thinks it's fairytales!" Hope smiled sadly
"Ok then it's probably best you go!" Emma smiled to Zack who left without so much as a goodbye kiss.
"Do you guys know my dad?" James smiled
"Aye lad we do!"
"How is Dalton?" Hope asked, she hadn't told anyone but her heart had ached for him every moment of every day since she left if it came to it she would happily leave Zack to return to the forest for Dalton
"Uh...well he's engaged!" Emma whispered
"Oh well that's...that's great!" Hope smiled sadly
"Mom? Are you ok?" James asked
"Yeah...yeah... just give me a minute!" She smiled wrapping her mother's cardigan around her and fleeing the room.
