"Frank, you're going to be fine," Mikey reminded his friend. "You know that he loves you. And you know that he's probably been waiting for this."
"Thank you so much for helping me prepare, Mikey. I mean, you know Gee better than anyone."
"Exactly. And I know that's he's going to say yes to you, so you don't need to worry so much."
"I just love Gerard so much and I want this proposal to be perfect. I want it to be perfect for him."
"And it will be. Just calm down. Gerard will think it's perfect as long as it's you. You have no idea how much he loves you, Frank." Frank just smiled at the thought. His life was far from perfect, but he was happy as ever. "Do you want to go into that jewelry store now?"
"Yeah," Frank sighed, pushing the car door open to get out. Once him and Mikey were both out of the car, they walked the rest of the way to the nearby jewelry store. A worker greeted them as soon as they walked in.
"Hello. What can I help you with?"
"I'm looking for an engagement ring," Frank explained. The worker took him over to a selection of women's rings and Frank chuckled awkwardly. "Men's rings. Please."
"Shopping for yourself?," the worker asked, bringing Frank to different shelf. Frank chuckled awkwardly and looked to Mikey for reassurance.
"My friend here is actually shopping for his boyfriend," Mikey clarified and Frank just nodded.
"Ah. What's your boyfriend like?"
"Oh, well, he's cute and caring. And he's an amazing writer. And he can draw too. He's so talented in so many ways. And he's loving and I know he would do anything for me. And he's just perfect. I want to have him for the rest of my life."
"That's so sweet. It sounds like you love him very much. These are the rings we have. Do you know his ring size?" Mikey told the worker Gerard's ring size and the worker grabbed a ring to show Frank right away. Frank studied it and turned to Mikey.
"It's a great ring. Mikey, do you think Gee would like it?"
"Frank, I love you, buddy. Gerard loves you even more. And he'll say yes, no matter what the proposal looks like."
"Right." Frank looked at the other rings at the counter. One caught his eye and he looked up at the worker and pointed to it. "That one. I want that one."
"Alrighty. That's a good choice," the worker stated, removing the ring from the show case.
"Frank, it's perfect. Gerard is going to love it."
"I know. The moment I saw it, I knew Gee would love it." The worker lead them to the checkout counter and gave them a price. Frank paid, no hesitation. Price didn't matter to him. His hand shook as he took the ring from the worker. "Thank you." With that, he followed Mikey out of the store and back to the car. He sat down in the passenger seat and just smiled. "Mikey, I can't wait to marry your brother."
"I'm just glad he's happy. I've always worried about him. Since we were teenagers. But ever since he stopped drinking and the two of you started to date officially, I haven't felt the need to worry so much. Because I know you'll keep him safe when I can't be there."
"Oh, Mikey. That's so sweet. Thank you for trusting me with him, and giving me your blessing to marry him."
"You're perfect for him. And I'm not gonna be the one to stop my brother from being happy. Frank, you're like a brother to me already. Marrying Gerard is just gonna make it a fact."
"Awww." Frank leaned over and hugged Mikey. "Thanks for being my friend in all of this."
"Of course. What else do we need to make this perfect? Actually, just tell me what the date will look like."
