"Mom are you and our neighbor still in an, um, entanglement?" "Very funny Riella! I have food packed up in the refrigerator and your clean clothes next to the door." I looked down and she had even folded the clothes for me. "Thank you mom!" "Yeah, yeah. You tell Oscar that I'm praying for him everyday and everynight." I grabbed the food from the refrigerator and put it on top of my clothes basket. "Yeah, well it's kind of hard to do that when he doesn't want me to visit him anymore and he doesn't call either." "What was that mija?"

I grabbed all of my things and headed out the door before she wanted to start talking more about it. "See you tomorrow mom!" I quickly closed the door and headed back across the street. I know that Oscar had his reasons for not wanting me to come visit anymore but it just wasn't fair to me. Not being able to visit him was also one thing, but now he wouldn't even call me. He was making me feel like I had done something wrong. But Tony told me it's like a mind thing. If he doesn't see me or hear my voice it will make it easier for him to get through this.

I walked inside Cesar and Oscar's house and sat down my stuff. Cesar was still home shockingly, but it was a Saturday morning. I knocked on his door as I walked to Oscar's room. "I'll have breakfast ready in a few Salad!" I sat my basket down on Oscar's bed and grabbed the food from the top. I looked around the room for a second before walking back to the kitchen. Being here everyday was so hard for me. I loved being here, it was just hard not seeing Oscar. I missed our little arguments, I missed how particular he was when he cooked, I missed trying all of his new recipes.

"I miss him too."

I turned around and saw Cesar leaning in the doorway. He walked over to stand next to me. "I have a feeling that he'll be home sooner than we think." I smiled at him, "I certainly hope so." We stood there another moment and then I turned around, "Come on, I'm making breakfast." I grabbed his arm with one of my hands and we walked together into the kitchen. "Cesar you've been busy a lot. What exactly have you been up to?"

He smiled and sat down at the table. "Not much, just doing the same as you I guess." I squinted my eyes at him, "And what would that be?" "Trying to find out more information about what happened to Oscar." "Cesar." "What? If you can do it, why can't I?" "Because I don't want anything happening to you." He shook his head, "I'll be fine Riella. I promise."

I started scrambling the eggs in the pan. Cesar leaned forward in his chair some, "Hey Riella? How much do you know about Rio?" I shrugged my shoulders, "Um, not much I guess. I met his sister Minnie and I know that most of the Santos call him Montana. I guess I haven't really given myself a chance to know more about him. He seems a little pushy sometimes. Like, he reminds me of how Angel used to be but not as aggressive." Cesar nodded his head, "Yeah, well, I don't like him. I think he's a full on creep." I laughed, "Cesar, stop. He's not that bad."

I plated the food and walked over to the kitchen table. "Plus he's the one who helped to find Mr. Perez. Without a lawyer, we wouldn't have any kind of shot of getting Oscar home." Cesar started eating and shrugged his shoulders again. I sighed, "I don't know. He's supposed to take me grocery shopping today. So maybe I'll find out more about him." Cesar's eyes shot up, "He's taking you grocery shopping?" I nodded, "Uh huh, we're running low so I asked him to take me today."

Cesar looked like he was thinking about something. "Is everything okay Cesar?" He looked up at me and nodded slowly. "Just be careful around him, okay? I don't like him." I stood up and patted Cesar on the shoulder, "Are you trying to be a protective little brother?" He smiled as he finished his plate. "I guess you could call it that." I smiled back.

A few knocks sounded on the door. I turned to Cesar, "Be nice please." Cesar gave me fake smile. I turned and opened the door and was surprised. "Oh, hey Jamal!" "Hey Riella! Is Cesar here?" I nodded, "Yep, he sure is. Come in, I haven't seen you in so long." I gave him a tight hug and he seemed to squirm in my arms the entire time. "Jamal, you okay?" He nodded, Yeah, I'm fine. You're fine, Cesar's fine, I'm fine. We're all fine." I frowned a little, "Okay?"

Then I heard a car beep outside. "Oh, that's him." I walked over and kissed the top of Cesar's head and gave Jamal another smile. "I'll see you two later. Please don't get into any trouble." I grabbed my jacket and headed out the door to meet Rio. He was waiting for me with the car running still. I got inside and put on my seatbelt. "Hello Rio." "Hello hermosa." He handed me a small box. "What's this?"

"Something to make you feel better. I know it's rough not being able to talk to him or see him."

I looked at the small pink box that was held together by a big silk brown bow. "Thank you. You didn't have to get me anything. I'm okay, I promise." "Just open it." "I'll open it later." I sat it down on his dashboard, but he picked it right up. Placed it in my hands and said, "Please, for me. Open it now." He gave me a sincere smile, but I could some forcefulness. "Okay. If that will make you happy." "It will."

I opened it up and there were four small, individually decorated chocolates. They looked so specially made, they looked expensive. "These look amazing Rio. Where did you get them? They look so fancy." I smiled up at him. "Thank you." He nodded, "Try one." I pulled one out of the box and bit into it. "Oh caramel. I love caramel and chocolate." I finished up the one that I bit into. "Thank you again Rio."

He started the car up and backed out of the driveway. "It was no problem at all. I promise." I smiled again. The chocolate was really good. It made me feel happy. I'm such a kid. Rio turned to me, "What store did you want to go to again?" "Oh, um," I started to feel drowsy and my eyes felt like they wanted to close on their own. "To, um," I couldn't even get out the name of the grocery store. Suddenly I just felt the overwhelming feeling to go to sleep. I could faintly hear Rio calling my name.

Sleep, that was what I wanted to do now. Just sleep. So I did. I went to sleep.
