Chapter 7~ 3 AM

Amelia made her way down the girls dormitory staircase, and went o sit down next to the brunette.

"What are you doing up Amelia?"
"Couldn't sleep, what about you Tom?"

She noticed him flinch slightly by the mention of his name, she debated asking about it but decided against it, after all they barely knew each other.

"Couldn't sleep."

He slightly glanced over at her for a second but when he realized she noticed he quickly turned his head away. Amelia was starting to think about how he's been reacting to her recently, he can't have a crush on her can he? No, Tom Riddle doesn't have feelings for anyone, at least that she knew of...

She barely knew they guy! All she knew was that he was a 6th year Slytherin, prefect, an exceptionally bright student, best in the year by far, hung out with some people in her friend group and well, that's really all.

"I can't believe this is our second last year, it seems as if only yesterday I was eating breakfast with my mother and got an acceptance letter."

She glanced over at him to see his reaction, he held a distant look in his eyes. They held something else but she couldn't quite tell. Since a young age Amelia would always look into people eyes because she found that they portrayed the most emotions and eyes could hold a million secrets if you just look close enough.

When Tom didn't answer Amelia got up to leave but was stopped by cold fingers wrapping around her wrist.

"Could you... could you stay. I... I'd like the company."

She stood there blinking for a second when she finally came to her senses, well sort of at least.

"I um yeah, yeah of course."

They sat there in silence until surprisingly Tom spoke up.

"Remember that time in 3rd year when we were paired together for potions and we were making a sleeping draught and you accidentally added one too many drops. Then while trying to levitate the cauldron over time the sink you sneezed?"

"Yes and the draught went all over half the class! Professor Slughorn didn't even give me detention for it!"

Amelia was laughing now and Tom traded out his signature emotionless face and smirk for a genuine smile.

"Yeah and in fact Professor Slughorn gave us 10 points for making a powerful sleeping draught"

They smiled at each other and kept bringing up other memories from their previous years.

"Remember the time Walburga broke her nail during a test and she managed to stop the whole class?"

"You're going to have to be more specific Amelia, that happened at least twelve times."

They talked until the early hours of the morning and before they knew it students were coming done to get breakfast.

"Goodness I'm exhausted!"
"You did stay up since like three."

Amelia just glared at Tom and decided that she should probably go to the great hall herself seeing as she was starving.

"Well I'm quite hungry so I shall be off to the great hall goodbye Tom."

She was just about to exit the common room when Tom said,

"You're in your pajamas..."

Amelia looked down and noticed that she was indeed in her night clothes. After giving an awkward laugh she walked up to her dormitory and was suddenly bombarded with questions.

"Amelia where were you? We woke up and you were gone and we normally go to breakfast together."

  "Aurora calm down! I just went to the common room because I woke up early."

  "Oh that makes sense sorry"

  "It's fine now once I get dressed there are some pancakes with my name on it!"

  Aurora laughed and finished getting ready alongside Amelia. After they were both prepared for the day they linked arms and skipped down to the great hall together as they do every year for the past 6 years.
