I rolled over in my bed, the golden sun shining through my blinds. I groaned, knowing I had another long day of work and pretending ahead of me. I shoved a pillow over my head when I head a deep chuckle from across the room. I smirked to myself and sat up, seeing Ryuk in front of my door. "Good morning sunshine" He remarked sarcastically. I threw my pillow at him and swung my legs over the side of the bed, stretching my arms over my head.

"Sleep well?" He asked. I nodded in response and stood up to get dressed. "Except I had a certain person's lips haunting me the entire night, I wanted more." I teased dreamily. Ryuk smirked before his expressions darkened. "Well was it me or that slime ball L?" He demanded. I shrugged and pulled out some clothes for the day. "Where's the fun in revealing everything about me, hm?" I teased, taking off my pajama shirt. Ryuk stared me up and down with a smile and I rolled my eyes at him with a smile. "All men are the same, human or shinigami." I remarked, putting on my outfit for the day and some simple mascara and lip gloss.

I had a long night, so I wanted to be comfortable. Besides, I didn't need to impress L that much anymore. I just had to keep him on a tight leash. I gazed in the mirror and noticed that something about me was different. I couldn't place it, but I had changed. I guess having a brother as a serial killer and hanging arounf a shinigami and the worlds greatest detective will do that to you. As I gazed in the mirror I was suddenly ambushed with memories.

Flashback

I giggled and ran through a field of flowers, my dress whipping around my knees as I bounded through the endless rainbow sea. Light chased after me, his young face smiling with glee as we played far from the picnic our family had planned. "You'll never catch me Light!" I giggled, my bare feet hitting the soft ground with a powerful force. "You will never escape! After all I am way older!" He replied I giggled and hopped over rocks in a small stream to get to the other side. "You're only 7! That's not old" I laughed. While I was distracted, I didn't notice a patch of rocks in the otherwise soft field and tripped, tumbling over the jagged edges. "Y/N!!!" Light cried, dashing through the river to get to my aid. I sat on the ground clutching my knee towards me. Both of my elbows were skinned, my whole body was bruising, and a long cut extended from my knee to the middle of my calf. Light bent down near me and watched as silent tears streamed down my face. "It hurts Light." I mumbled, my dress now wet with blood and tears. Light quickly ripped part of his shirt and wrapped it around my leg. He got some water from the stream to clean up the dirt from my face and smiled warmly at me. "Does it feel better now?" He asked, care filling his voice. I nodded and wiped away some tears. "I can't stand seeing people being hurt, especially you." He said, brows creasing. "Me too Light." I replied, cupping his hand. He stuck out his other hand and extended his pinkie. "Let's promise to never hurt anyone, especially each other." He said. I agreed quickly and grabbed his pinkie with my own.

I was pulled out of my memory by my mom saying breakfast was ready. I looked at my pinkie but quickly suppressed any feelings of guilt. Light broke our childish promise first, and he probably doesn't even remember it. He has much more important things to worry about.

I threw the things I needed in my purse and gave Ryuk a goodbye kiss. As I turned to walk away he grabbed my wrist and pinned me against the wall, laying another kiss on me, but more aggressive and passionate. "Just remember, you belong to me, not L. I am a GOD, I will make you my goddess. What does he have to offer?" He growled. I was flustered for a second but quickly composed myself and placed a hand on his chest. "Oh RuRu, I know that. Besides, I can always kill him." I smirked, a devious glint passing through my eyes. He smiled at me as I walked out before realizing his new nickname.

I heard him yelling about never calling him that again and whatnot but paid no attention to it as I walked down the stairs. I saw Light at the table and gave him a nod of reassurance when he looked at me, concerned. I clutched my hands into fists, cramming my pinkie so hard in the middle that it cracked louldly. That was years ago. We've both changed. I was a stronger and better woman now. I was smarter than L, smarter than the police force, and smarter than my brother, Light Yagami. I had them all in the palm of my hand. This is all one big game of poker, and I have the ace up my sleeve.
