The bus arrived at the high school and the first person to get off was Hiromi. She always like to be the first one off because she hated to be late, unlike her brother.

"Meji-san," Hiromi looks straight forward to see the principal running towards her, "Meji-san, once again you hit top in the school again! Your score went through the roof!!"

"Thank you very much Mr. Takashima," she bows to show her appreciation. Hiromi continues to walk towards the entrance to the school. Off to the corner of her eye, she sees a figure. That figure walks to the back of the school but she doesn't mind and walks on.

---Bell rings---
Hiromi walks into the classroom and sits into her seat. She usually sits in the front where she could see better and not be bothered by the other people but the teacher, Mr. Azuma.

"Class today we are going on a field trip," Mr. Azuma started talking, "Please take the time to notify your parents," he started to pass out some papers. It seemed that a parent must sign it in order to go.

"Strange," Hiromi whispers. Usually at that school they don't have this sort of thing. On field trips they tell their parents and leave with the class.

"You will need to pack enough for 5 days and 4 nights," Mr. Azuma continues, "If you don't bring this sheet back to me, you won't be able to go." The entire class gasped. It was the first time that Mr. Azuma had ever said those kind of words to the class.

"What?!" A student in the back raised their voice, "How can this be Azuma sensei? We have never needed to do this sort of thing!" The class was in chaos. Everyone started to agree with that student and went on a rampage.

"SHUT UP!" Mr. Azuma had raised his voice against us. It was so immense that the class went silent. The silence was deadly. The tension from Mr. Azuma was like none they had ever faced before.

"Now then let's start our lesson," Mr. Azuma was smiling brighter than the lights on a computer screen at night. His grin was as wide as his face. It confused the class but they all went with it.

What the heck sensei?  Hiromi thought in her head as she looked out the window. The birds seem to be having a good time. That day was the day of her mistake. Hiromi made a promise, or took a dare, and can never go back on her word. For her pride would not take it.
