I was humming a popular Taylor Swift song while I was heading towards my best friend's house. It's actually pretty faraway from my place but as it was ,yet again, it was a warm summer day with little to no clouds and a big ball of light that sent everyone in my hometown warm beams of light, so I didn't really care about the fact that I had to walk a few miles to my friend's house.
It was yesterday morning when I received a message from my friend, Lauda, who had given me a rather unique task, I had to keep an eye on the petsitter. Yes. The petsitter who is supposed to keep an eye on her cat. Just because my friend was a little afraid that her sweet snow white cat with grey stripes named Momo wasn't doing fine.
At first I had laughed and called her an overly worried old grandma, but after a short discussion, which Laura won of course, I promised that I would keep an eye on the petsitter. I promised I would head on 2 o'clock on Monday to her house and look if everything was going well, if everything was fine I didn't have to come back, but if things weren't going exactly good I should visit more often and babysit the petsitter. Fun job, right?
I reached the lane where Laura lived. A nice, rather small street, where trees were growing on both sides of the way. Laura lived in a house made of red stones and one with a pretty big garden.
The raspberry's growing in the garden looked delicious and i decided to get some once you had finished this case with the petsitter.
While I was heading towards the back door, which was located near an old big tree, I suddenly heard a loud scream followed by the well-knows sound of stuff falling down. I ran inside your friend's house, through the dark hallway, to the slightly messy living room and headed towards the kitchen where the sound came from.
I sweatdropped. In front of me lay a blond boy of near my age. Next to him lay an almost empty pack of chat chow. The content of the pack lay scattered around the boy. Several pans also lay on the ground and a few glasses also lay on the ground, broken.
Momo the cat came running to me, she nuzzling up against me and purred a little. I smiled and lift her up.
"Hi Momo, you must've missed me, right?"
I turned to the petsitter. He was sitting on the ground, not looking to me. I laughed a little, he must be feeling pretty embarrassed. I kneeled down and Momo jumped out of my arms and started to nuzzle up against the blond boy.
"Well, shall we start cleaning up this mess then?" I suggested. My gaze met his brown eyes and his blushing face. I laughed quietly. Who was this guy? I had never seen him before, and I knew pretty much all of Laura's friends.
I decided to introduce myself, I would spent a undecided amount of time with him the coming week after all. And it would be a nice thing to know each other's names, right?
"I'm Alibaba, sorry for this mess... It's my first time petsitting a cat actually," he said while nervously rubbing the back of his head.
"I see... Are you friends with Laura?" I asked, I couldn't help but wonder if it sounded weird or a little rude. "Y-Yes! Well, actually we're far relatives. We played together when we were little, but I used to live on the other side of the country so we didn't see each other very often."
Hmm, I didn't know that Laura knew a person whom she shared the typical childhood-friend-far-relative-relationship...
"Aha, that explains why I've never met you... Do you live in town now?" Alibaba nodded. "Yeah, I moved in just after summer break started."
Poor kid, he probably has spend his whole summer break without his friends who live away of course. I feel him.
"Are you going to attend the same school as Laura?" I decided to ask after a short while, eleven seconds to be precise.
"Yes, I'm going to start as sophomore."
"Really, then we're in the same year. We might end up sharing some classes!" I said with a smile.
"Yeah..."
This guy, I'm starting to feel slightly annoyed because of him. His nervousness is irritating me, but also a little cute...
"Hey! If people are going to bully you, don't come running to me," I said.
"What? Why would people bully me?" He asked, suddenly a lot more fired up.
"Dunno~" I laugh a little. "Well, Alibaba, why don't we start cleaning? What did you even do?"
Alibaba laughed a little. It wasn't a laugh because of happiness and funniness, more one of those laughs that won't say anything good, more nervousness oh no.
"Never mind. I'm going to get a broom. Can you give Momo some food?" Thinking of it, that last thing wasn't that necessary as cat chow lay pretty much everywhere in the kitchen, scattered.
"Yes miss!"
While cleaning Alibaba and I talked a little more. Alibaba told me about his family and I told him about mine. He had been practicing martial arts since he was little and preferred kendo. His favorite dish was
When the kitchen was clean again and Momo was happily sleeping on top of Laura's favorite jacket which lay on the ground, Alibaba and I decided to go outside and enjoy the hot weather.
We sat down in the long grass, covered by the shape of a tree and next to the raspberries. I decided to get some.
"Want some?" I ask while munching on quite some raspberries.
"Sure, thanks!"
We both were silently munching and enjoying the sweet, yet also sour and bitter taste of the perfect pink raspberries.
I followed an airplane which was flying over. The white stripe the airplane left behind was the only imperfect part of the blue sky.
I looked at Alibaba. He had his eyes closed and was lying in the grass.
If someone would enter this garden now, we would probably look like a pair of close friends but we had only known each other for two hours maybe.
I stood up to get some more raspberries and found myself awkwardly munching next to a probably sleeping Alibaba.
He's a little handsome, I have to admit it. He's more muscular than most boys his age. I decide to sit closer to him to have a closer look of his face. Alibaba's facial features are rather soft, but he looks a little older when he has his eyes closed.
I blushed. Seriously, I sound like an insane girl who is fangirling about her favorite celebrity or fictional character.
Then I noticed a few raspberries in Alibaba's hand. One of them is lying in the grass and I putted it in my mouth. It was sweeter than the others I've tasted so far and I wanted more of these sweet raspberries.
My hand slowly found it's way to one of the raspberries in his hand. While the raspberries was embracing itself in a hug of my hand I kept a close look on Alibaba, he was really sleeping after all and I didn't want to wake him.
I closed my hand palm and felt the raspberries, just when I wanted to let out a sigh I felt two strong hands around my wrist.
Alibaba was suddenly sitting only a few inches away from me and was clearly awake.
I screamed.
"S-Sorry, I didn't want to wake you... do you want your raspberry back?" I asked with a slight blush.
"W-What, no it's okay..." Alibaba muttered, avoiding my gaze. "Sorry, it's a habit I guess..."
I laugh and look straight in his golden brown eyes. "You're rather unique, aren't you Alibaba?" I grinned.
I noticed him blushing as our faces are a lot closer than they're supposed to be. I stood up.
"Well then, see you later Alibaba!" I said with a smile and turn around. When I've left the garden I sent a message to Laura.

Don't worry, your petsitter is doing his job well. Come back soon xx

While walking home I can't help but smile. I'm definitely looking forward to meeting Alibaba again.
