Chapter 7

“FIVE LAPS AROUND THE TRACK!” Mr. Holland, the epitome of harsh gym teachers shouted at us blowing on his whistle periodically.

I sighed I wasn’t unfit, on the contrary, I love running, but during the first day of school, It just seemed unappealing.

Quickly pulling my hair up into a pony tail I set off.

I started off slow, enjoying the fresh air. Haha I kid, this is New York, No fresh air here.

But soon I built up into a proper run. I watched the few people infront of me running, slowly slowing down with me taking over them.

During the last lap I built up into a sprint and over took everyone. I came first.

Mr. Holland gave me a nod of approval before shouting at some guy who was walking.

Once everyone had finished we did a few track and field games like javelin and shot put.

An hour later, Mr. Holland dismissed us and left for his office, grumbling about insolent teenagers.

Arden walked  up to me.

I hadn’t really seen him for the whole lesson, I kind of strayed by myself.

“you’re a really good runner you know, You should try out for track.” He offered me an apple. I had no idea where he got it from though.

I took the apple and took a small bite out of it.

“Meet you at the car in 20” I told him as I turned my back to get to get changed into something that stank less.

I quickly stepped into the changing rooms and grabbed my clothes before making my way to the bathroom stall.

But no. Life hates me; Lucy freaking Knights steps infront of me with her head cocked to the left with a malicious on her face.

Perfect.

“Where you heading?” she smirks before taking her perfectly manicured finger and poking me in the chest.

“grammaticaly, its where are you going, but you wouldn’t know that, anyway I’m changing so me and Arden can head home. I informed in a matter or fact way.

“You whore, sleeping with him already?” She grins and pushes me aside to go to her group of plastics.

I sighed, rubbed my chest a little before entering the dirty bathroom stall and changed.

I met Nathan by the car, but not Arden.

Where is he?

“We should ditch.” Nate say’s impatiently from the back seat.

“Just wait Nate, he’s going to be here soon.

“I am waiting!” He say’s, exasperated.

20 minuets later, we’re the only car left in the student parking lot and Arden is still not here.

Nate says nothing because he’s busy texting and I’m awkwardly leaning on my steering wheel, eye’s trained at the front door of school, willing Arden to come out.

And finally, 5 excruciating minuets later, Arden comes out. Lucy smug behind him.

They both make their way to the car and Arden climbs into the front seat, Lucy joining Nate at the back.

“Wow, the car still has the new car smell, Kay!” Lucy says in a peppy motion.

Nate looks up from his phone to glance at Lucy and grimaces at her. He never really liked her, thought she was too girly and had a really high-pitch voice.

I raised my eyebrow in distaste and glanced in Arden’s direction in a way that clearly said: what the hell, why is the bitch here?

“She needs a ride home, Football team tryouts and Tanner can’t drive her home.” He explained, awkwardly looking at his hands.

Saying nothing I started up the car and drive out and make my way to Lucy’s house… Correction; mansion.

“So Arden where do you live?”

“With Kaya” he says.

Silence.

“Why do you live with her!” Disgust leaking into her voice.

“Complications.” He states before looking out his window.

Lucy continued to blabber on for the twenty minuets that she was in the car, and I speed. But she lived in the outskirts of New York, closer to New Jersey actually.

“Thanks for the ride, kaya” She said bitterly getting out of the car.

“Bye Ardie!” She lent back in and blew him a kiss (cleavage showing and all!)

She shut the door and skipped to the doors of her mansion.

Yeah I actually didn’t see anything, as soon as the door was firmly shut, I floored the pedal and got the hell out of there.

As we got home, I slid the car into the parked position and ran for the elevator, leaving Arden and Nate in my dust.

Lucky for me the elevator was already at my level, so I got in and stabbed the close door button and the 40th floor button.

As the elevator made its way up I leaned against the railing and shut my eyes. The very sight of her sickens me.

I felt like throwing up. I had to get there faster, the bathroom.

The elevator doors opened up and I ran out, keys already jabbing into the lock.

Once throwing the door open, I threw my bag into the general direction of my room and rush to the bathroom.

I stuck a finger up my throat and barfed up the contents of my stomach and all the memory of her. The scent of her perfume still hung in the air around me as I upchucked.

Five minuets later I was on the floor of the bathroom, silently crying, blood running down my left hand and a blade in my right hand.

“Kaya! You’ve been in there for ten minuets, get out!” I heard Nathan shout.

I sighed and stoop up, wiped the tears, grabbed a bunch of toilet paper to wipe of the blood and pulled my sleeves down.

Exiting the bathroom to make the quick escape into the bedroom. But no, just my luck my bedroom was being blocked my Arden who was knocking on my door.

“yes?” I said from behind him

“do you have the rubric for English?” he said leaning against the door, scratching his chest.

“yeah, I should.” I tugged my sleeves a bit more, hiding my fingers.

I pulled out my bag and ruffled through the pieces of papers. Here it is.

“Here you go.” I pulled out the piece of paper and handed it to him before pushing him out the door and smiled to him.
