Warning very unedited Im sorry and just a pre warning I swapped the timed events and the rough riding around just letting you guys no :)

I trotted out of the arena just after I finished my last event, the break away roping. I had come second. Really good considering my year off and lack of practice. Considering, the whole day had been awesome Hayley and I had gone awesome in the team roping coming in a very close 3rd against a brother and sister team and I came 2nd in the breakaway roping and 1st in the barrels but Hayley had smashed it in the goat tie and almost setting a new arena record.

I cantered back to my little blue truck and dismounted off Denny.
"ah my little boy I'm so proud, you did so well today," I crooned as I rubbed his head, she snorted a tiered response.
"Haha thats my boy."
I unsaddled him and walked him over to the wash bays where I hosed him down, the water streaming off white, with sweat. my poor boy.
I walked him back and rugged him with champion campdraft rug from today before tying him to the truck with a hay bag. It started to get dark and the rough ridders would start soon so I left for the canteen, I hadn't eaten anything since breakfast and I really wanted to watch the riders, just not the Bronc riders, In the junior rodeo circuit I had seen to many people injured from Rough riding but it was my best friend Josh that steered me away from the broncs he ended up in an educed coma on life support in hospital and later died from a freak Bronc accident, he was trying to show off and got caught under the horse and almost trampled to death. Don't ask my why he didn't just jump on the safety horse when the buzzer rang.

On my travels to the canteen I saw Madison. She was with a tall well built man and a young child, Probably 4 or 5.
"Hello," I said with a steak sandwich in my hand.
"Oh hi Audrey, this is Todd my husband," she said gesturing to the well built man, "and this is my daughter Chloe," she had her long brown hair in to plats with a cowgirl hat and boots, she was so cute.
I shook hands with Todd and murmured a hello then bent down to eye level with Chloe, "Hello Chloe I'm Audrey," I said holding out my hand, which she took.
"Your Uncle Brooks girl friend, I've seen pictures of you in Uncle Brooks room," she said with a giggle.
Laughing and shaking my head, "haha I'm not Brooks girlfriend, just a friend," she nodded her head and giggled as of not totally believing me.

I stood back up and looked at Madison with a smile, "she is so cute."
"haha looks are deceiving, so you going to watch Brooks ride?" she asked.
"I didn't know Brooks rode, what in?" I asked but in answer I hear his name over the loud speaker. I whip my head around and see as they open the shoot and Brooks shoots out on a dapple grey Bronc.

My heart froze. I couldn't take my eyes away.
It was like Brooks was trying to get me to cringe. The 8 second buzzer rang and Brooks lept from the bronc onto the safety horse and slid off the back and landed safe. He was going to get it when I caught up with him. I hung out and played with Chloe for a little longer and got to no Todd a bit better, refusing to watch Brooks other 2 rides. He came 2nd in the saddle bronc.

At about 10:30 and the rough ridding have just finished but I was tiered and ready for bed, I hadn't seen Hayley and Dustin since after the Team roping and Madison and Todd left for home just after Brooks finished. It was almost 11 Brooks came over and sat down next to me. I was off in my own little world, thinking bout dangerous topics like mum and dad and Josh and why they would all leave me, and then why the hell would Brooks ride broncs. It wasn't until Brook started talking that I realised he was there.
"So how did I do?" he said.
Oh I nearly turned around and slapped the smirk right of his face, how could he do that to me.
"What are you thinking! riding Broncs is dangerous, you could be killed!" I said my voice cracking.
Brooks face dropped, "why do you care any way?" he said in a low dangerous tone.
Then it struck me, why did I care so much? I hadn't seen him in 4 years, I've not known him longer than I have known him and we aren't even really friends anymore.
"I don't know," I said getting up, "I should go."
Then he grabbed my arm and swung me around to face him. "Look I'm sorr-" I tried to stop him but he kept talking, he seamed oblivious to the very small distance between us, "-y, I don't know how to take you, I haven't seen you in 4 years, damn it. You are not the Audrey that I once new, your harder and tougher, I can see it in your eyes. You have lost to much, I just wanna be friends please and in time maybe more," he tilted my head up so our eyes would meet.

I turned my head away, "Im sorry I have to go," and with that I ran off to the truck.
