"Mother I don't want to get married to Asher." Katrina my eldest sister wines as Abigale her personal helper fastens the back of her beautiful wedding dress. "Deal your father says he's a good man." My mother crosses her feet the proper way, her posture perfect. "Katrina don't worry he's not that bad looking." I give her a hopeful smile. "Its not the looks Evan! I have a feeling" "Katrina!" My mom snaps at Katrina hushing her. What was that for? Katrina gives me a warning look. But what does she mean by I have a feeling? I wish mother didnt shut her up.
The door shook from someone knocking on it. All of us snapped our neck to look. "Evan go open the door." My mother orders getting up putting pearls all around and in Katrina's all around bun brade. I get up slowley walking over to the door. "Faster!" she hisses and I obey making faster and longer strides towards the door. I quickly open in it revealing my older brother John. "Father says twenty more minutes." he pokes his head in warning his apperal showing a little. I nod reclosing the door.
This day meeds to hurry and end already. Today's the fifth and its a full moon tonight. Tonights going to be perfect to gaze up at dark sky I can already tell.
"Evan come and help." Mother snaps me out of my thoughts. I nod going back over to help them do her makeup. "What can I help with?" I ask standing infront of Katrina. The doors burst open and an angry Alena comes bursting in marching her way towards mother her royal red dress trudging across the floor.
"Ms. Evelyn I thought we made an agreement that prince Asher would be mine!" She flayls her arms in the air. As young as she is she has the traits of a grown women. My mother sighs not even bothering to look at her. Alena puts her hands on her hips tapping her feet impatiently her blue piercing eyes stairing mother down, I dont know how mother can ignore those big blue things starring her down. "Alena you are too young for him." My mother answers finally looking down on Katrina's dress messing with it a little.
"I only have two more years till Im the age." she wines walking over to the window looking out, her bleach brown hair shimmers in the sunshine.
"Alena end of discussion." My mother scolds. "Get rid of her." my mom whispers to me her tone adjetated. I nod and walk over to Alena. This was always my job to get rid of her. Its so easy now. "Alena lets go to the garden of Eden." I smile putting out my hand. "Yay." she cheers grabbing my hand and leading me to the door.
"Tis so beautiful out here isnt it?" she asks me twirling in the daisy's" "Yes very." I smile up at her. I look at the fountain water running down the statue's face. Its as if it's crying. "Evan its time for our sister to walk down the aisle let's go." John scares me as he approaches from behind the fountain. I stand up from the rim of the fountain lay out my hand for Alena she obliges and we make our way to the grand garden where the service is.
"Evan when will you get married?" Alena asks looking up at me. "Im not sure." I answer a little embarressed I can feel my cheeks get warm. "Alena when will you get married?" John butts in asking. "I was going to marry Asher but of course stupid Katrina took him away." She uses her and my hand to protest. John looks down and away in defeat. "Well Katrina doesnt wan to marry him." I tell her. "That makes me feel a little better." she admits smiling again. John smiles at me. "Why do you guys have to wear all white?" Alena asks. I shush her as we get closer to the seating area. I sit her down next to her mother and John and I make our way to the front next to Father.
Father is going to be angry at us for being late but I had to do my duties as babysitter. Dad gives us a mean look as we take our places to sit. "Father shouldn't you be walking Katrina down the aisle." I hear John whisper to dad. "I would if she was ready!" he whispers snapping.
We hear a whistle from behind and everyone's heads turn to look at beautiful, a well put together Katrina. Father scurries and takes the long way around to get by her side. What a mess this surely is.
The pianoist started playing while Katrina and father make their way down the aisle. "Soon that'll be you." John whispers. "I wonder with who?" I stay still gazing at father and Katrina. I give Katrina a reassuring smile as her and father make it to the end. Her veil hiding her precious little face surely does a good job cause I can hardly see her face. "You look gorgous." I mouth to her to make her feel better. She smiles nodding getting my message.
The pastor coughs to get everyone's attention. But where's Asher? That reminds me. "Good evening ladies and gentlmen I have a very important anouncement to make." his face softens as he looks down on Katrina.
This is bad news for sure I can tell.
"Prince Asher is putting back this wedding." he stops everyone gasping and murmering in shock. He holds up his hand to shush everyone. "The Styles request a very important meeting and of course all of the Masons need to be in that meeting. The meeting is requested to happen tomorrow morning at nine." he finishes.
I can feel that Katrina is a little unsteady about the news. She should be happy I mean she doesnt want to marry Asher so shouldnt she be? "Whats that supposed to mean?" I turn to John and ask him whispering. He shrugs his shoulder. "It has to be bad if the Styles wants to speak with us. You know our family are sworn enemies, they are bad people." He adds. Everyone says the same thing but why are they bad no one has the answer to that question or why are our families enemies? "You guys are dismissed of the wedding until further notice." the pastor finishes.
Everyone leaves immedietly John and I stand up and go to father and Katrina. "Father whats the meaning of this?" John asks taking the words right out of my mouth. "John I don't know but Evan go help your sister get out of this dress. "Where's mother?" I ask just noticing. "She's angry with me." Katrina amswers putting her head down in guilt. She takes off her veil looking down on the comb part of it. "Why would she be mad at you?" dad asks. "Because I didnt want to wear the veil she wore when she married you." she admits. "Katrina Mason! You know its family tradition." dad scolds. "Well I wanted to be different not like everyone else." she gets heated walking off.
"What is with you people?!" Dad facepalms. I walk away awkwardly heading for my room.
"Where you going?" I hear a man's voice ask as I'm reaching for the door. I turn around to see Carter the family's stable and carriage boy. "My room." I open the door and quickly close it before he asks me another question. Theres something about him thats off he just creeps me out.
I fall onto my bed kicking off my shoes. This dress is tight, I thought only brides get tight dresses.
