•Prologue•
Lost amidst the echoes of familiar walls,
Shattered within a family's tight embrace,
Lonely amidst the bustling crowd's calls,
Unhappy despite nature's serene grace. How could I lose myself in known terrain,
Where every path leads to yesterday's refrain?
In the heart's labyrinth, a mystery untold,
I seek my truth, a tale yet to unfold.Amidst kinship's warmth, a chill resides,
In solitude's company, my spirit abides.
Surrounded by beauty, yet joy eludes,
In this enigma of self, I quietly brood.Who am I, amid these mirrored shards?
A puzzle of emotions, in veiled regards.
To find myself, in this cosmic dance,
I yearn for clarity, a fleeting chance.---
Siddharth sat at the edge of the terrace, the secluded spot of his university where he often sought solace. He stared at the lines scribbled in the journal, their weight pulling at his heartstrings. Though lengthy, they beckoned him to continue reading, driven by an irresistible curiosity.
His quiet contemplation was interrupted by timid voices from the entrance. Swiftly moving behind a nearby water tank, Siddharth peered cautiously to identify the visitors. To his relief, it was a trembling girl, not a professor or a guard.
His intention to step forward froze when he recognized her face—it was Avneet. His breath caught in his throat.
〰〰〰"No! Leave me alone!" Avneet's cries echoed across the rooftop, her voice strained with desperation.
"Anandra, get down!" Siddharth's tone was urgent, his grip on her wrist firm as he tried to pull her away from the edge.
"Just let me die!" Avneet's words cut through the air, filled with anguish and sorrow.
Siddharth's brow furrowed in concern. "Are you crazy, Anandra? Get down from there!"
"Yes, I am insane! Now let me die!" Avneet's voice cracked with despair, her whole body trembling.
"Why are you screaming like this?" Siddharth's voice rose, frustration and worry mingling in his tone. "Because I want to scream. I want to cry. I want to die. Do you have a problem with that?!" Avneet's response was sharp, her emotions pouring out uncontrollably.
Siddharth took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. He knew he had to remain calm. "Avneet, please come down," he pleaded softly, using her name for the first time, hoping to reach some part of her overwhelmed mind.
But Avneet seemed beyond reason. Her cries intensified, tears streaming down her cheeks as she struggled with her inner turmoil. Siddharth didn't hesitate. In one swift motion, he pulled her away from the edge, enfolding her in his arms as she collapsed against him, crying hysterically.
"Get away from me! Let me die! You shouldn't have stopped me. Just let me go," Avneet muttered between sobs, her fists weakly pounding against Siddharth's chest.
He held her tighter, refusing to let her slip away. "I'm not letting you go, Avneet. I'm here," Siddharth murmured softly, his voice a comforting anchor amidst her storm of emotions.
