It was 3 AM on a Saturday early morning at the UA Dorms. Everyone in the Class 1A building was sleeping, except for Izuku Midoriya who was down in the kitchen area pouring hot water into a bowl of instant ramen. Young Midoriya had been training with All Might all day. Once he got back to the dorms, he went directly to bed due to how exhausted the training made him, skipping dinner. His empty stomach awakened him in the middle of the night and the very hungry Izuku was unable to ignore it. He cautiously went downstairs to the kitchen hoping no one would be awakened by his walking around, specially Ida, who would no doubt give him a lecture reprimanding him for both missing dinner and using the kitchen during sleeping hours. He very carefully heat up a pot of water, paying extremely close attention to it as to insure he made as little noise as possible.
As he sat on the table eating his noodles in a hurry, hoping to get back to his room as soon as possible, Midoriya began thinking about his training that day. Him and All Might had discussed ways to unlock the Float quirk that belonged to his mentor Nana Shimura, which Izuku now had stored within him as the current holder of One for All. All Might had theorized that maybe the way for Izuku to unlock the quirk for himself was to tap into the force Shimura had once claimed was the most powerful in the world, "Love". All Might explained that Shimura had told him this shortly before her confrontation with All for One in which she lost her life. This stuck with All Might as he believed Nana herself embodied the idea of love, which is why she was able to trust him with One For All. Talking about her clearly made All Might emotional in a way Izuku hadn't really seen before so he felt it was his duty to properly embody her hero spirit in order to show All Might that his mentor lives on. That said, he really had no idea how he could tap into love in a way that could be useful. Neither him or All Might really knew where to start regarding that.
Izuku was getting lost in his thoughts while eating when suddenly Ochaco Uraraka walked into the kitchen. "Uraraka!" Izuku exclaimed, clearly worried that he might have awakened her. In turn she exclaimed "Deku!" as she blushed. She wasn't expecting anyone, specially him, to be down here at this time. "I'm sorry if I woke you up! I'm really sorry!" Izuku said frantically but Ochaco smiled and replied "No. I came down here for a glass of water. Normally, I sleep with one next to me but guess I forgot to fill one up earlier." Ochaco continued blushing, as she often did when finding herself alone with Deku. She asked him what he was doing in the kitchen so late. Izuku explained that he had gone to bed without having dinner and needed a snack. "I wouldn't be able to go to sleep at all on an empty stomach. You must've been really tired." Ochaco said as she walked towards the water pitcher. She poured herself a glass of water as Izuku continued eating. "Well, hope that ramen helps you sleep. Have a good night." Ochaco said to Izuku as she began walking toward's the kitchen exit.
As she passed by him, a quick glimpse of an image appeared in Izuku's mind. It was only visible to him for a split second but he was able to tell the image was of a female figure floating in the air. A tingly feeling went down his spine as he blurted out "Can I ask you something very quick?" Ochaco stopped and looked back at Deku who was visibly flustered. He didn't know what had compelled him to say that. "Yeah, what is it?" Ochaco said with a very curious look on her face. Her heart started beating faster as she thought about the possibilities of what he might ask of her. "It's probably nothing. Pull yourself together" she thought to herself as she tried to hide her excitement about whatever Deku was about to ask. Izuku was so nervous his legs started to shake. He didn't know why he needed to get this off his chest at this particular moment but it was clear something inside him was pushing it out and it was no use fighting it.
He took a deep breath and he said "Well, I've been thinking a lot about how I would not have chosen the name Deku as my hero name of it wasn't for you. Kacchan used it an insult for so long that I would have never thought of calling myself that willingly, ever. But then you came along and showed me that it not only could be a positive name but one that truly embodies what I want to be capable as a hero. I am Deku and it's very nice whenever someone calls me that. I learned that thanks to you." Ochaco listened attentively as Deku's words were getting to her. She was happy to hear that she had positively influenced his hero name choice, which she had assumed she had done but it was very nice to hear him acknowledge it nonetheless. Izuku nervously continued as he truly didn't know how she would react to his question. "I was thinking since you helped me get acquainted with my hero name that maybe I could help you get better acquainted with yours" he said as he blushed. Uraraka looked confused, she wasn't exactly following what Deku was saying but she didn't want to seem rude or dumb. Izuku identified her confusion so he just nervously moved unto his question. "I was thinking that maybe I could start calling you Uravity, you know, in like a casual way? If that helps you get a better sense of how much that name suits you" he said as the blush on his face got more intense.
There was a moment of silence as Ochaco considered what Deku proposed. Her face got as red as a tomato and her eyes got watery as she tried to answer. "Um, well, um" she said in a very soft voice like she was struggling to speak. Izuku took this a sign that he was overstepping his boundaries. He got up and began shaking his arms as he exclaimed "I'm sorry! That's dumb. I don't know what I was thinking. I didn't mean to imply you should let me call you whatever I want. I'm sorry!" to which she replied "It's okay, Deku. You can call me Uravity." Izuku could feel himself getting calmer as he heard Ochaco's approval. "I can?" he asked as he made eye contact with her. Ochaco's face was still quite red but she had a big smile on it as she elaborated "Yeah. I think you are right that is always nice to be called by one's hero name. Besides, I always call you Deku, so it's only fair." Izuku smiled back at her. He was pleasantly surprised by how nonchalantly she had taken his proposal, which he had only thought about from time to time but had never previously consider actually asking. He was happy that whatever gave him the impulse to ask made him do it.
"Well, I guess that's that then" said a smiling Deku. "I suppose so" said Ochaco smiling right back at him. "Goodnight, Deku" she said as she made her way out of the kitchen. "Goodnight, Uravity" he said which made her stop for a second. It felt nice being called that by him, which made her blush and smile. She took a deep breath and proceeded to walk back to her room. Izuku sat back down to finish his noodles. He felt happy about his interaction with Uravity, like really happy. As he took the last couple bites from his bowl, he wondered about whatever compelled him to ask his question, it was definitely something new. "Midoriya!" could be heard loudly from outside the kitchen. Izuku knew what this meant as he closed his eyes in frustration. Suddenly, Ida burst into the kitchen waving his arms in his signature steady manner. "I knew I heard something. What are you doing eating a bowl of ramen at these early hours of the morning?" Ida said in his almost military tone. Izuku replied "I didn't have dinner so" ,"You didn't have dinner? Don't you know to be great heroes we must stay healthy and well-fed" Ida said interrupting Izuku who was not surprised. Ida reprimanded Izuku for about 5 minutes before sending him back to his room.
At 3:30 AM, Deku and Uravity each laid on their bed in their respective rooms. They were both thinking about their late night interaction as they were trying to fall asleep. Both were blushing as they wondered what their relationship with each other would be like from this point on. They both smiled as they fell asleep.
