┊┊┊┊┊┊┊☆┊┊🌙 *┊┊┊☆ °🌙*For the 20th time in two minutes, I continued reloading at the screen. The page took another 5 minutes to load. My final year of high school, popularly known as "Boards" in India, saw its results today.
Hello, my name is Meera. I am a 17-year-old girl with enormous ambitions but little drive to achieve them. It appears that the world is against me, and I was born this way; unlucky.
Finally, the page displayed my result successfully. My folks were taken aback when they saw my grade. I turned around to see their unhappy expressions. Mom offered me a tiny smile, but dad gave me the expression that said, "You're dead meat." My mouth felt parched. My limbs were trembling. I couldn't say anything since I couldn't speak. Dad put on his coat and went for a walk. Clearly, he was dissatisfied with my performance. I didn't perform up to his standards. Mom led me to the kitchen where she handed me a glass of water. 'Don't worry,' she replied as she hugged me tightly. You gave it you're all. Score higher the next time to prove your worth to your father. I have faith in you. You've got this.' I gave her a big hug and a big smile.
I returned home from my friend's house at 6 p.m. I went to see my best male friend, Nishant, who happened to be a classmate of mine. He did worse on the boards than I did, but he was unconcerned because his family is more concerned with passing the tests than with getting good scores. Looking at him, I felt at ease, knowing that it was fine to be a little irresponsible. It's fine to fall behind sometimes. It's quite acceptable to make mistakes. Because God provides us a second chance to make amends for our errors.
I walked into my father's living room, where he was reading the newspaper. He took my hand in his and turned around to face me as I passed by. He was no longer grumpy. It couldn't figure out what was going on in his thoughts this time.
'Could you please sit for a while?' he said. 'I'd like to speak with you.' I sat next to him without questioning his authority.
'You get a 60 percent on your boards,' he continued. I'm not angry at you, but I'm a little annoyed. My daughter is someone I am quite familiar with. She has the ability to achieve anything she sets her mind to. All you have to do now is make up your mind to achieve your goal. Let's not make a big deal about it because the damage has already been done. As a result, I've chosen to relocate you to Mumbai to continue your studies. It will be a fresh start in your life now that you are a university student.'
I was taken aback by his decision. Why are we relocating to a different city? This is one of my favorite places. Everything is going well for me now that I've settled in with pals. Why do I require a fresh start in a strange new city? My cheeks were flushed with tears. I hurriedly wiped it away and turned to face him.
All I could think about was how I would acclimatize to such a large metropolis in the back of my mind. Will I make nice friends in Mumbai as Nishant did? Everything was changing, but I knew in my heart that whatever my father did would be the best thing for me.
