Chapter 8

*Calley*

“You brought him where again?” Liz asked as we sat down for lunch.

I sighed. Liz just couldn’t grasp the concept that I brought Zayden someplace before I even told her about it. “It was a spring across the boarder line. Completely safe until I brought him. A mistake on my part.”

“Dang right,” Liz said, taking a bite out of her apple. “Should have brought Ander instead.”

I smacked her on the shoulder and she giggled. Ander and I had apparently “officially” started going out after we both ended up getting ditched by our friends at the same movie. He actually isn’t that bad of a person. A Shape-Shifter, so it was fine with my parents when I told them.

“Zander is staring at you,” Liz muttered quietly..

“Zayden!” I snapped back. And when I turned to look at him he was staring in our general direction. I glared at him and he waved. I growled. He irked me so much! Why did I even think of bringing him over to the Human world with me?!

Ander walked over and kissed my cheek. He sat down next to me and I smiled at him. I leaned in for a kiss. So did he. Our lips met and I couldn't help but smile. He asked for entrance and I happily gave it to him. But I couldn't help but think of Zayden's kiss to me.

I quickly pulled back and was met with Ander's smiling eyes. I smiled down in to my lunch at Zayden’s scowling face. I wanted to laugh, but I thought it might be a little much for the situation. Whispers were circulating the cafeteria. “You saw that too, right? I was hallucinating?” “They’re so cute together!” “I knew it! I knew it!” “I totally called it.” “You owe me five bucks, dude.”

Liz got up with her tray and moved to a different table with a few of her other friends, leaving Ander and me alone. He smiled at me and placed a piece of chocolate on my tray.

“Bought it off one of the Vampires. Cost me some bear blood, but who really cares.”

I took the chocolate and unwrapped it. It was hard to find even the smallest piece of chocolate around the school because it supposedly dulled our powers. Not that many of us cared. And the Vampires often had some, so it was easy to get if you could pay the price. I got desperate for a piece once and gave them some panther blood. Apparently they were trying to figure out which animal blood tasted the best.

I took a bite of the chocolate and smiled. Ander smiled too, pleased with himself for making me smile. I guess I didn’t smile to often.

“This is so good,” I said, “I can’t remember the last time I had candy in general.”

“I heard the Humans have a day where they go around knocking on doors and they get buckets and buckets of candy,” Ander said, “It’s coming up soon too.”

            “When?”

            “Next week on Tuesday.”

“We should go,” I said, finishing the chocolate. “Just you and me. I personally think Humans aren’t that bad when they’re having fun. Its when they’re scared that you have to look out.”

Anders shot me a curious look. “How do you know so much about Humans?”

“I cross the border daily,” I admitted. “I used to have a few friends over there, but they moved. And the people that took their place aren’t so nice. But I guess hanging out with a few Humans made me think that not all of them are bad.”

“Calley, that’s dangerous,” Ander said, “You could have gotten killed!”

I decided not to tell him about yesterday when I almost did die. No one needed to know that except Zayden and me. And I could do without Zayden knowing too, but that wasn’t going to happen anytime soon.

I stood up and dumped the rest of the food on my tray in the trash. I wasn’t hungry anymore after telling Ander about my time beyond the boarder. It just seemed like something no one would understand. And no one does!

I walked out of the cafeteria, past a few students who were running to get to lunch in time, and out the doors. It looked like it might rain, but I wasn’t to worried about it. I’m not the type of girl to freak out because her hair got a little wet. Or her new fancy shirt has one drop of rain on it. I know some girls like that. They’re more annoying than Zayden.

Thunder cracked and lighting flashed. I sat down on the side of the road and started to think.

A/N: Can someone say “Filler Chapter?” Now, say it with me: “Fill-er Chap-ter”. …Good! Doglover98 instructed me to write a filler chapter (As you can probably tell from my awesome teaching skill above). So here ya go! I seriously have no idea what’s going to happen. Not until Doglover98 STARTS TELLING ME STUFF!

Thank you, and good night.
