At 3 p.m., my father and I went to the local mall to get some lunch. The venue was crowded with bachelors who were enjoying their spare time after a long day of lectures. Looking at them, I told myself that I'd be there in a few weeks to spend time with my new pals.

But I was mistaken. On the first day of university, I arrived late to class. As I approached the classroom, I could see the teacher and pupils giving me a despairing look. I looked around after my first class and noticed other students talking with one another. Laughing, sharing, and getting along were the order of the day, and I was sat in the front row, suffering from social anxiety from the start. I hopped on the first train home to cry in peace at the disappointment of my excessive dreams for a new life.
For the next two weeks, things remained the same. I'd go to lectures and then return. My mother was seeing everything but never tried to console me since she thought one day I'd meet someone as wonderful as me and everything would be fine. I moved to Mumbai in pursuit of a new life, a voyage that will expose me to new experiences, provide me with many opportunities to study, and allow me to meet wonderful people. My parents encouraged me to succeed in every aspect of my life and to make them proud. They were constantly putting pressure on me, as well as the difficulty of adjusting to a new environment. But things were heading in the opposite direction, and all of my aspirations and dreams were being dashed.
We were told to get our identity cards in the library around the fifth week of my session. Throughout the process, I noticed I was developing major social anxiety and wasn't very good at conversing with strangers. But I made it, and that small, insignificant chore was a huge success for me. I was returning to my class when I heard a voice from behind me shouting my name. I turned around to see a girl I used to see on my local train every day. We never said anything to each other, but we did exchange glances. She rushed up to me and exclaimed,
"Hey! I've seen you a few times in my train. We're both on the 11:15 a.m. train. Ekta Jaiswal is my name. What's your name?"
At first, I couldn't believe that someone was interested in talking to me. 'Hi,' I said, a worried smile on my face. Yes, I recognise you. Thank you for reaching out to me. 'My name is Meera.'
'Cool,' she replied with a smile. Let's all board the train together, but first, let's grab a bite to eat in the canteen. After standing in that long line for a useless identity card, I'm starving. It was easier in school when everything were handed to us immediately.'
"Yes, it is correct. I concur with you "I excitedly responded.
We were in the canteen in no time, chewing on our wonderful frankie and chatting about ourselves and other topics. I was delighted to meet Ekta since she reminded me of myself. Chirpy, bubbly, and ecstatic about life. She was someone I had been looking for for a long time. My spirits were raised, and I was the happiest person on the planet. I thanked God and resumed my conversation with her.
